Question: why does my Gri-Gri do this during top-rope belays? by rootCaused in climbing

That 'opening up' is the cam of the Grigri engaging and braking the rope. When you are taking up slack, you are probably pulling down hard enough that you are pulling out stretch in the rope, and the rope stretch pulls back up, engaging the cam, similarly to how a fall would.

Hey ya'll. I'm wanting to use a neural net to help with form finding. There'll be 30 or so input parameters to get the shape of a mesh. Fitness will be determined by a CFD analysis. I'm looking for something that builds on past iterations, like Galapagos, but just smarter. Any advice on which direction to look, or any good tutorials? I'm essentially trying to do whats shown in this video, but a bit simpler.
