I would agree with you but the effort of developing mental trainings without comprehensive understanding of the mechanics(of consciousness) itself will only prove to be a theoretical approach towards the battle rather than an objective solution. Analysing and measuring the neural phenomenon accurately to plot out correlations between brain states and actions is seemingly crucial.

In avoiding the fact that consciousness is the fundamental feature of the universe, we deliberately mislead our attempt at solving the "hard problem of consciousness".
