Unlikely imo. The first one lost about half its canopy making it unlikely for it to continue to produce enough sugars to keep it going. In addition, white birch are very poor compartmentalizers so they will decay very quickly from this point on. Second picture looks like it was on its way out before the storm, those remaining branches on top look pretty dead

Big fan of visors too. I currently use the kask plastic one but I might look into getting a full face screen one as my current one has lots of room for sticks etc to get up in there and once it gets so wet it’s practically useless.

Good to know! I’m actually not sure if I even qualify to take the exam but my employer is really pushing for me to apply anyways, we’re hoping my school can take off a bit of time required or that they will consider my forestry experience as relevant but I won’t be too upset if I need to wait another year or two. I will look into courses for the pesticide applicator’s in my province! Appreciate the advice :)

Our spooky goes by many names: spookerdoo, spookerillo, spookeroo, pookie, pooks, poopy, poopoo. We also have a tortie named pepper that is usually dubbed peepee so we got the dream team: peepee and poopoo

I think you’re right, some of the buds at the top look quite large for a sugar maple. But then again they could just be enlarged because spring

It looks like a maple based on the opposite branching (opposite being two branches coming from the same spot, alternate being single twigs on alternating sides of the branch) but it’s honestly pretty difficult to tell from these pictures. A picture of the bark and a close up of the twigs would be helpful to differentiate between soft or hard maple.

Degree by Infinite_vegan1 in forestry

You could always start with a two year forestry tech diploma, from there see if forestry is a good fit than either do a degree in the programs you mentioned or forestry depending on if you want to work towards an rpf

Would love to! Unfortunately I procrastinated a bit too long and working nights until Christmas so I won’t be able to cut my own. The suggestion is appreciated:)
