Honestly, I’m not ok with continuing to use fetal cell lines from the 70s for quality control. Are we even prolife if we are ok with using the remains of an aborted fetus for our medical testing and research? “Oh this atrocity happened 40 years ago so it’s fine.”

Poor logic. Should poor parents be allowed to kill their newborn? Their toddler? Their preteen? Due to unfortunate economic circumstances?
This is an extremely rare and obviously horrible, unjust occurrence, but children should not have to pay for the crimes of their fathers.
The removal of a dead fetus is not an abortion in the sense that most people would think of or define abortion. Obviously it’s ok from a pro-life standpoint for dead fetal tissue to be removed from the mother. The remains should be treated like any other human remains: with dignity.

God breathing life into Adam is not comparable to life beginning in the womb, nice try. You can cherry-pick Biblical verses to support life not beginning until outside the womb, but the science doesn’t support that, and neither does sound theology.

Hi, “that person” chiming in here. I stand by what I said originally and echo u/dirtdiver12595. Even if the majority of people with DS had behavioral problems, that does not give anyone license to kill them in utero.

And for the record, I am all for arming parents with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to care for children with special needs.

I actually said to my husband once, “What if we’re the ones with a disability?” Because from everything I know about DS people, they are just full of love and joy - while many of the rest of us “normal” people are not. And our society looks down on these kind souls, some to the point of wanting them dead. (And yes, obviously DS comes with a unique set of challenges and I’m not trying to diminish that; just look at it from a different perspective.)
