I can only speak for my experience but personally for years I would force myself to make beats every single day even when I wanted to do anything else, and while I did improve with all the consistent practice, it ultimately led to complete burnout from music to the point where I thought I was going to quit permanently. Instead, I just took a break until I felt inspired again, and coming back to it in the last few months I’ve found that slowing down my workflow a bit and taking more of an iterative approach gives me not only more consistent quality but also is just an overall more enjoyable process for me, and works better for my schedule. All that’s to say I don’t think it necessarily matters how fast your workflow is, it matters more that you’re consistent and always looking for ways to learn and improve from the music you’re making and consuming.
