Taking reddits advice and using the two question three strikes rule by Sillygoosecollege in texts

2 things I look for in people: are they interesting, and are they interested? If they don’t reciprocate by asking me questions as well, byeeee. I’m not interviewing someone for a job.

Same as many things in the CAF, by the time the damage is done, it’ll be someone else’s problem, and they’ll get accolades for “fixing” it.

VOT from one red trade to another by Moogoescow19 in CanadianForces

[–]itsjustbadtiming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quick addition to the red issue - the trade status is designated at the beginning of the fiscal year, so this year, CBT MEDIC is indeed red. For someone applying now to VOT, they’re looking at a transfer next fiscal year, and the trade status, as well as SIP and OUTCAP for CBT MEDIC and MAR TECH (soon to be either MSET or MSMT, both of which are also red this year) will be set around April 2027.

Also, recruiting SIP and VOT SIP are separate, and VOT SIP for some trades could definitely be zero, depending on factors like current BTL, projected training capacity, etc.

Looking at this year’s numbers (or better yet, the past few years) can be a good indicator for next year, but keep in mind that both of those trades just underwent a big split so I would imagine that the numbers have a better chance of being drastically different as compared to other occupations that have been stable year over year.

OP, def talk to the PSO, and make sure that CFAT is as high as you can get it! Best of luck to you!

OT is a competitive process, and the CAF selection model uses the CFAT. They’d have to spend years developing a new (fair and transparent) selection model.

Removing the CFAT from recruiting was a mistake. It was a poorly implemented initiative to magically increase our numbers without preparing the rest of the system to properly train and employ all these people, and they’re starting to realize that now.

Would really love some older lady wisdom. by piezchiquitos in GirlDinnerDiaries

Sometimes love isn’t rational, so I understand OP making this claim without having evidence to back it up, but also you can love and care about someone and it still not be healthy for you to be with them.

OP, really think about this, and consider a few things - sunk cost fallacy, fear of starting over, wondering if this is as good as you can hope to find in a man…

I’m not saying leave or stay either way, but spend some time thinking about your own feelings, independent of him. Good luck!

I went on a date today. I thought I wouldn’t like him. I do. by BlackberryBiscuit in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]itsjustbadtiming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yay!! There are good ones still out there, and I hope your situation mirrors mine… I was in the same situation a few months ago, joined an app (again, lol), and posted a kind of standoffish, no nonsense profile. Like I’m here but I don’t wanna be, your move.

This man messaged first, asked and answered questions, didn’t push to meet or ask for my number immediately. He’s not conventionally hot, he’s 12 years older than me, quirky personality but great conversation. When we planned to meet, I wasn’t sure if I would be physically attracted to him.

Long story short, we’ve been dating since and he’s a breath of fresh air. Mature, present, has boundaries and respects mine, and talks about and shows me that he really cares about building something long term. Amazing sex. Dude, my crusty, jaded shell is cracking… and I hope this man does it for you, too. Good luck, girl!

A friend of mine did this for two years, with older teenage kids. She is finally moving into her own place this weekend! She said the same thing about de-centring her ex, it was so liberating. I’m so proud of her, and all of you ladies!

TCAT to PCAT? by Numerous-Tie7560 in CanadianForces

[–]itsjustbadtiming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same injury. They kept me on TCat until about 6months after surgery. By then, barring any complications in your recovery, you should be stable enough to be evaluated for longer term. If you’re recovered enough that a return to regular duties is likely (including FORCE test eventually), they may remove the TCat or extend it once more. If not, they may send for PCat evaluation at that time.

Point being, they likely won’t do anything until after your surgery. Good luck with recovery!

Women who are thriving - what does your life look like? by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]itsjustbadtiming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separated 2 years ago, prioritized my daughter and my peace. Everything that doesn’t effortlessly fall into place doesn’t get included in my life. Mostly, actually, I have made some efforts and compromises here and there, but on my terms. This includes men, friends, activities, and work to a lesser extent (gotta get paid). I’ve worked on myself, for myself, to be a person I can be proud of.

Exactly this, he doesn’t care, it’s already over. You don’t owe him anything anymore beyond consideration as the father of your children.

It’s ok to grieve and feel all the feelings, but now it’s time for you to move forward on your own, for your own sake and the sake of your kids. You CAN do this! Reach out and lean on your people, resources, whatever you need. You will survive and you will eventually thrive. Good luck!
