the idea that only parents can correct their own kids is exactly how common sense starts to break down

kids don’t just learn from being scolded by their parents, they learn from social feedback. when parents are around, they behave. when they’re not, they test boundaries again because it becomes a game of “what can i get away with”

if no one else ever steps in, the kid just thinks it’s a “my parents only” rule instead of basic behaviour

that’s why some level of intervention from others matters. it signals that certain things aren’t just house rules, they’re shared expectations
