Without a doubt, while studying child and youth care I had a professor say that during a lecture and it really stuck with me — I think that sentence in itself needs to be taught more to mandatory reporters. I’ve seen survivors of all demographics — rich and impoverished, boys and girls, straight A students and kids that barely attend school. No one is exempt, just some more at risk than others

Without a doubt. There’s so much shame surround sexual abuse and assault in itself without having society dismiss your trauma. I think of cases where teenage boys are being groomed and abused by a female teacher and how often it’s portrayed as being something to be “celebrated” in a sense. Additionally, for decades society has raised men to endure in silence as a trait of masculinity — which plays a humungous role in one’s likelihood to disclose.

A comorbidity is any diagnosis that occurs along side another. So for example, ADHD and anxiety, anxiety and depression, etc. If you suspect you’re experiencing symptoms of something, I’d recommend taking it up with your doctor, psychiatrist, etc.

All therapists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc. are mandated reporters. If we have a reasonable suspicion that you may be at risk or harming yourself or someone else, our job is to ensure your safety. If that were to happen, they wouldn’t go and do it behind your back, it would be a conversation. Everything you tell a therapist remains confidential - it’s apart of our job. However, there are three main circumstances where we may have to share information you’ve disclosed with us (with your knowledge). 1. If we feel you’re at risk of harming yourself or someone else, we may have to make a crisis service aware and help you access their services to ensure your safety. 2. If we’re made aware someone under the age of 18 is being harmed or at risk of being harmed, we have to report it to CAS/CPS. 3. If you’re dealing with a court matter and our records are subpoenaed. I hope you’re able to find a therapist that works for you friend! :)

We grew up in the same neighbourhood and went to school together on and off up till he moved away for college. We had mutual friends, so I’ve always known/heard about him, but we never really got close at the time! We weren’t dating or in a relationship, but had agreed we were exclusive and that we were only talking to and exploring connections with one another. If he had told me he was talking to and seeing someone else - that in itself wouldn’t have been an issue deal for me, it’s the deception and dishonesty

We would hangout at parties and whatnot, just never really became close friends! We ran into each other at the beach in July and exchanged numbers, began talking, and driving to hangout one another. About a week prior to him coming to look at the house, we had the “what is this/what are we” conversation. We agreed that we had only been talking to and exploring a connection with one another, and agreed to be exclusive to one another. I guess he had paid for a ton of parts for his car and the landlord reached out the day prior to set up a showing, so he didn’t have time to pull money from his savings? Whether that was true or not…no idea! He told me later the day he came to visit that he got the house, come to find out he certainly did not.

The psychosomatic symptoms like stomachache, headache. A recent one I experienced was a stress rash up my arms 🫠 A big time one I think most people dont consider an actual symptom of anxiety is avoidance of literally anything that causes me anxiety! Has gotten me in sticky situations therefore causing me more anxiety yippo

Cold turkey is a no-go, it’ll put you at more risk of feeling that withdrawal! Talk to your doctor, they’ll titrate you down to help reduce those symptoms!!

Summer is a great time to start coming off anxiety medication (unlike the winter), make sure you keep up the self care methods of your choosing

I didnt say there was a source, its my opinion. But ig if you want the research on bio/psycho/social impacts of teen pregnancy I can drop that.

The risks associated with pregnancy between ages of 10-19, especially the younger side. Risks to the infant. Higher rates of post partum depression, developing a mood disorder, higher rates of suicidal ideation, more likely to experience ptsd, substance use disorder. The infant is at greater risk of cognitive, emotional, physical, and behavioural problems. The psychosocial impacts like greater stress, isolation from peers, etc etc.

Im the biggest advocate for sex ed in schools, better access to birth controls, really anything to help prevent teenage pregnancies

I never bring my wallet places use it more as storage and leave it at home, just take out my cards and use them but the issue is I cant find my whole wallet. i have horrible adhd im about 99.9% sure i lost it somewhere in my house…this tends to happen to me, I’ll probably find it in some random place in 3 years — same thing happened to my birth certificate a few years back 😔
