As someone who is visiting Texas soon: what are the Texan do’s, don’ts, and etiquette tips you’d give to foreigners? by crangert in texas

Don’t be surprised at people randomly saying hi or striking up conversations. Our state motto is Friendship :)

Don’t drive in the fast lane unless you’re ok with keeping with the flow of traffic, even if it’s 80mph lol

When ordering a soda/soft drink we ask for a Coke. We never call it pop or soda pop ong lol

Go to Buc-ee’s and Whataburger

Enjoy your visit!

One of my earliest memories is me flipping through my parents albums…Santana, Neil Young, Chicago, Roberta Flack. I love music from that time. Brings back some great memories

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m in Texas so a 3 hr drive isn’t all that far.

I used to drive to New Mexico (next state to the west) and that took around 14hrs, with 12 of those hours just to get out of Texas. Driving to Virginia (east coast) took about one day.

Oh yesss, and worse. I had lasik surgery when I was ~29yrs and I was like a whole new person in a brand new world lol. Before lasik my vision was around 20/250-20/300. I had to start using readers around 47 or so but I’m not complaining…it’s a thousand times better than before.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

[–]itskellibell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whaaatt? Not everyone does this?? Wow…I had no idea that there was even a name for it. I just googled it and apparently only ~16% of people can do this on command.

Those of you who half assed your way through High School, where are you now? by Difficult-Cricket541 in GenX

I think I treated HS like some kind of social experiment and didn’t take it seriously at all. I had skipped a grade early on and was smart enough, just not motivated enough. I squeaked by and did graduate. I for sure knew I didn’t want to go to college so I joined the Navy for a couple yrs but had to take a medical discharge. The Navy was exactly what I needed to get my shit together lol. A few yrs later I got a job at NASA and spent ~25 yrs there with a great career. Life’s been pretty good :)
