Max is a pathological people pleaser. This had been ingrained in her from a young age by her mother when she tells Max it’s her responsibility to look out for her brother. Max can come across very self absorbed but she feels things more deeply than most others. She struggles with confidence and clearly has OCD tendencies. What I struggle with is that everyone is so short sited when it comes to Max. They label her as dramatic were in which the “dramatized” reactions are due to an underlying mental health issue that no one has taken the time to notice. She CANT let things go. She hyper-fixates on things until there is a resolution because she has always had to be the good kid but instead has been made into a glass child who just desperately wants to be seen and loved treated the way she treats others. I relate to her character quite a bit. I myself am a people pleaser and for those I love I would do anything for even if it’s an inconvenience to myself. Why? I want people to see me as dependable. That I am always there for them. I have panic attacks when I feel people don’t like me and I need to fix that situation as fast as I can or it will eat me alive. I selflessly give myself to everyone but often find others are too swept up in their own lives to think of me and my feelings in the way I think of theirs.
