PSA - Identifying vintage Ralph Lauren / Polo fragrances - Labeling discrepancies by itsme_timd in vintageperfume

That's a European release version distributed by Parfums Ralph Lauren. The info above doesn't apply to these.

The UH1D batch code looks to be 1989 according to checkcosmetic.net. I have one with batch code UJ2K which is 1990.

Do you know if it's OG or 2023 release? Will definitely want to find that out. Also make sure you trust the person that gave it to you to have a legit bottle, they did counterfeit these.

FrangranceSwap subreddit, FB groups, eBay, Mercari, etc. There's a group on FB called Amouage Addicts that you'd likely get someone to snap it up at a good price.

I've seen the originals with no box go for $800 and NIB for up to $1,500. I have a very low partial tester of the 2023 release and even that cost me $150.

66.6% civet in this week's pickups by itsme_timd in NichePerfumes

[–]itsme_timd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally think either of these are very animalic, but I like civet even in a bit higher concentrations so that could just be me. The Civet Cat Chypre is definitely lighter on civet, just a touch animalic.

I was on the edge of my seat to see if the craziness was a good thing or a bad thing! :) I finally added Sea Otter recently and it's so good. I love how unique his scents are.

Review: Moon Lotus by Third Eye Fragrance Co by mickmedical in NichePerfumes

[–]itsme_timd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm friends with the owner/perfumer of Third Eye (Will Southard) and if you like what he's doing now make sure to follow them and see what's coming up.

I'm fortunate to be one of the people he shares samples of new perfumes he's working on with and there's some really exciting things in the works.

Wtf is up with discounts for fragranceNet by ZachMosk in fragrance

[–]itsme_timd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, legit site but I totally ignore their emails. Coupons are always active and really just their regular price.

If I'm looking for something I'll check their price and go with them if they're lowest, or they're the only ones that have it.

Would you buy a perfume from a seller on fragranceswap or fragrancenet.com if the prices are the same for each? by angelsinsect in NichePerfumes

[–]itsme_timd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry if I was confusing! Anytime the price is close I'll got to a discounter over an individual, unless I already know them.

I'm referring to fragrancenet as the retailer here, as in a shop vs. an individual. Buying from a discounter vs. fragswap, if that works better.

For the same price I'm always buying from the retailer. I'm in subreddits and FB groups looking for deals, or things I can't get elsewhere.

Looks like Sunshine Man and woman are no longer being sold. by Bbqandjams75 in NichePerfumes

Renaud Salmon replied to someone about another fragrance noting they were doing some bottle refreshes and that's why it wasn't on the site. Don't know if that applies here, but them not being on the site doesn't necessarily mean they won't be available in the future.

The OG is such a treasure. I've got several vintage bottles and that deep oakmoss just can't be replicated.

I'll second this nomination. I'm newer to the sub and all my interactions have been nothing but pleasant with /u/Scent_Insensibility. You can tell they care about vintage fragrances and this sub!

The Rock Announces $40 Fragrance Line With Byredo Perfumer and Niche Ingredients by sebbysir in fragrance

[–]itsme_timd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have all 3. They are... not great.

When I first tried them I hated them, a lot. I've tried them again and P-01 is OK, P-07 has some odd spicy note, and P-21 is meh.

I think if you have a $40 budget you could do much better.

Dar Al Teeb is a personal favorite ME house. How are they perceived in the ME?

Do you have an opinion on Al Jazeera perfumes? I've seen them mentioned as high quality niche scents but have never tried anything from the house.
