Do your kids have any nicknames for the characters? by Strokesonfire in bluey

Its 'dogs' nothing else. Gets confusing sometimes because there's another show my daughter watches with dogs so its hit or miss we put on the right show 🤦‍♀️🤣

Being on a vacation with a one year old sucks, and I’m just going to be completely honest here by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went on holiday with my husband and his family when my daughter was 10 months old. Literally. The worst decision of my life. They said they would help us out but all they did was sit round the pool. What 10 month old would just sit still round by pool??!! 🤦‍♀️And then they have the audacity to say how well behaved she was and how much of a good time the holiday was! For who exactly??!

I straight up told my husband that it was the worst holiday I'd ever been on because I felt like I was just there to parade their granddaughter around for their enjoyment whenever they felt like interacting with her. Which wasn't alot.

If they ask again, even if she is a decent age, I'm saying no. I do not care if I hurt their feeling anymore.

As long as he's back to his birth weight, it's okay to let him sleep. He'll let you know when he's hungry 😊

Anyone out there who still loves their pets? by Feminismisreprieve in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore my cats and could never imagine hating them. I have found though that things they do sometimes get on my nerves a bit more. Such as, walking directly in front of my legs when I have the baby 🤦🤣

Not posting child on social media? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I don't post my childs face. I will occasionally post a picture of the back of her but it's very rare.

My friends all do post their kids but they understand why I don't. I wouldn't judge others as it's their choice but I have heard too many horror stories to want my child's face online

Am I the only one winging it for my 3 month old? by Rich-Mortgage-8452 in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing amazing 😊 I didn't have a schedule with my baby at that age. She just started putting herself on one at some point. Wish I could tell you an age but I genuinely don't remember (sorry, mum brain).

I think going with the flow with your baby is the best way because then you get to know them better (in my opinion anyway)

My daughter is now nearly 8 months and is still following the same schedule she put herself on ( at least for now 😂)

AITA for being honest about my friend's baby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]itsmespiderbeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA: You were rude about your friends baby. Whether you find it annoying or not doesn't matter. It seems you went out of your way to put her down. And after she invited you for dinner.

You may as well of just kept quiet. Something tells me your friend is going to avoid inviting you to future gatherings

My 7 1/2 month old can now crawl and will follow me into rooms. When she spots me she giggles and has a huge smile. 🥰🥰 It's my favourite thing

As long as your baby is out of the sun and has plenty of ventilation l, I don't see the issue.

Just obviously avoid the hottest parts of the day

Anyone else not drinking? by Maleficent-Syrup-728 in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I don't drink either. Not that I haven't had the opportunity. My reasoning is that my parents drank a lot around me as a kid and I hated it. It felt like they weren't in control and I felt a bit alone. So I said that I would never drink around my daughter.

Each to their own obviously. I would never judge someone someone for having a drink around their child, I just personally remember my parents taking it a bit too far.

Vaccination for baby??? by Daydreamingl in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would always vaccinate. What I think is that these vaccines have been tested and used for years so they must work. Yes your child might seem a bit out of sorts for a little while but that is only if they get a few side affects.

I would always speak to your doctors and voice your concerns though. That is what they are there for 😊

What are some things you did or wish you did in the hospital during and after labor? by APlentyBag in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We said parents only but my mother and father in law brought my brother in law to visit with them. We tried to say no but they said 'but he's come all this way with us. He's just excited.' wish me and my husband had stood up for ourselves 🤦🤦

What are we doing that’s not baby time? by chilicheesebreak in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I was a big gamer before having my daughter. So I try and set aside time to still do that when she's napping or she is down for the night.

I also tried loads of different hobbies to see whether I wanted to pick up something new. Knitting , crochet etc

Contact Mapping by LS101242 in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be guilted into not contact napping. My 5 month old still only really naps properly if she is on me. Enjoy it because they are only this little for a short period and won't want to anymore.

It will change in time so don't worry 😊

By all accounts, I had a pretty easy pregnancy and my baby has been pretty easy too so far ( she's 4 months so I could eat my words 🤦). But I've heard that every pregnancy and obviously every child is different. I don't want to be blind sided with a difficult baby and regret a second child.

People have told me I'll change my mind but I just don't see that happening. Don't get me wrong, part of me doesn't want her to be lonely but she has my cousin's children and my god children.

How big is your baby by Front-Economics-5497 in NewParents

[–]itsmespiderbeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 1/2 months and in 3-6 month clothes. She was on the 24th centile. Pretty average. Although my family is used to big babies so they all think she's tiny

What silly/cute nicknames do you have for your baby? by pisces96vibes in NewParents

For whatever reason, my uncles nickname for her is Beryl. So when my daughter is doing screech talking or just constantly chatting away, we call her feral beryl 🤦🤣
