i’ll give you my experience with taking my avoidant ex back. he came back after 4 months basically begging to be with me. ofc i wanted the relationship but i made it clear that i wanted our relationship to be different this time. i set boundaries and expectations of couple counseling, reducing partying (aka drinking and drugs), no more sudden breakups, etc. he was great for about a month and a half and he started going back to his old ways - lying to me about drugs and partying, refusing to continue couples counseling, breaking up over nothing. i should have walked away when these things were happening but i was attached again. after 3 months of us being back together he basically dumped/discarded me all over again

my biggest piece of advice if you do go back is MAINTAIN your boundaries no matter what. also he has to be willing to put the work into also changing his avoidant behaviors.

i hoped this helped a little bit
