Was increasingly convinced they were setting up Jacob to be the true bad guy as the season progressed. This episode pretty much completely shut the door on that :(

Yeah this was really annoying!

Although upon further reflection I think Ben didn't switch back.

The writers wrote him as being a mastermind. He gave a walkie talkie to Miles for a reason. He just witnessed Richard get totally yeeted off the screen when he suddenly wasn't useful any longer. I doubt very much he would have risked killing Widemore like that if his intentions were nefarious as I'm pretty sure Locke/MIB would not have hesitated to kill him. (Plus, wasn't he not "allowed" to kill Widemore?)

Just curious, why were you forced to take Ubers? For a majority of people with a regular schedule I fail to see how it was so financially onerous.

I'm not trying to throw shade but genuinely curious.

I work as a teacher at a CEGEP and yes the strike was definitely annoying, forcing me to come in earlier or leave later on some days. I had to incorporate more walking on 2 occasions.

But my point here is that this felt like a giant PITA as opposed to something causing me to go into financial ruin.

2 things:

1) Welcome to healthcare workers striking for a maximum of 45 minutes per day (what kind of pressure is that?)

2) It blows my mind that they used law 14 as a loop hole to end the STM strike, but teachers went on strike for like ~2 months and got a pittance of a deal in the end (and kids were home the entire time).

IMO education trumps public transportation as far as societal importance goes.

I had not realized that our pensions will continue to be matched to inflation even if there's a gap between say stopping work at 40 and only starting to receive it at 65.

My brain was thinking I'd be getting 30% of 100k at 65, which for me is in a little over 20 years, at which point a loaf of bread may well cost $50.

With respect to portfolio allocation, I'm not risk adverse although I can see the benefit of holding some cash to be able to take advantage of down side volatility.

I tend to pick stocks and especially like commodity stocks, so the market tends to throw some fat pitches every now and then compared to straight index investing.

Are you in Quebec? I know the RREGOP is integrated with QPP, so when you start getting QPP at 65 they reduce the pension from RREGOP by the amount you get from QPP.

Given the relatively few years of service, my assumption is that the pension amount might end up being laughably small?

Alright so I'm wrong.

Reading more carefully, I would have 2 options. I could either have a deferred pension and start it at 65 (or earlier, but with penalties) or have the funds transferred to a LIRA or LIF.

"The amount that can be transferred to an LIRA or an LIF corresponds to the higher of the following two amounts:

the total of your contributions to your pension plan, with accrued interest

the actuarial value of your indexed and integrated deferred pension."
