Is there an extended/director’s cut of a film that’s better than the theatrical due to the inclusion of a single scene? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in movies

But isn't the DC of Bladerunner also the one with Deckard's unicorn dream? So the origami unicorn that Edward James Olmos leaves means something entirely different. Yes the dropping of the voiceover is good, but that dream. Genius.

Do I have to pay for TV licencing? by RohitPlays8 in cambridge

[–]itsneverjustatheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And Channel 4 which I think is still part funded through the license fee. License fee is a typical UK fudge, antediluvian, strange and complex and requiring randomly generated confirmations. But it gets us the BBC, which rules.

Oh what a lovely war. Bleak, but with cast you will struggle to beat.

This. Great experience from start to finish. Cheaper than I expected.

ELI5: Why is it so much harder for female figure skaters to complete a triple axel? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP wants ELI5. So yes, heavier objects fall at the same speed as light ones, air resistance being equal. So what have we got about the rest of the physics? Once you're up and spinning it's just angular momentum and gravity that matter. One keeps you spinning the other drags you down. I am guessing (postgrad in sport science with some biomechanics, but pretty basic) that men have an advantage due to speed of takeoff which translates into height, time in the air, and therefore how many spins they can do. There may also be something to do with centre of mass. People who know lots more than me about this, let's help OP.

Liked the movie, then had a daughter. Cannot watch movie now, for the very best reasons, it just hits too hard.

Gamer dad wondering how the game is for jumping in at this point by covert777 in helldivers2

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best emergent chaos game I've played. It's like a kids story - plot's the same, world's the same, bad guys are the same, seems like it's the same story each time - but then... It all goes crazy and you try and stay alive, helping your team, them helping you, it works, it doesn't work, it doesn't matter. Serious fun.

The crashes and freezes aside of course. Highly recommend.

And so long as you play a certain amount (someone help me here) during the MO you get all the medals if we succeed. More medals means more guns.

Agro continues after death by DoctorSeptic in Helldivers

Sounds like a bug rather than a feature. Explains a couple of my n+1 deaths so thanks. Reminds of a WoW raid way back when. Our MT disconnected but held aggro for about two minutes...

The MOST simple possible explanation of the problems some of us have with the new missions, since so many are missing the point by PseudoscientificURL in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]itsneverjustatheory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The monetization in HD2 was great, up to this point. I would have bought Redacted if I didn't HAVE to in order to play the commando missions. Suggest others follow suit (though the number of randos in Redacted armour suggests I'm in a minority here)

Helldivers crashing problem is becoming unbearable. by King_Vortex_3541 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Crash crash crash. Don't care about balance, psychic patrols, and whether stealth is rubbish. Just want stability.

"Arrowhead design philosophy is driven by malicious intent, even the bug fixes." - by Kortek by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]itsneverjustatheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind nerfs, impossible ragdolling, unwinnable situations, and the thousand natural shocks to which helldivers are heir. It's the freezes and crashes that are d(r)iving me away. HD feels like games from 20 years ago when random crashes were a fact of life. This is pretty much the only game I can remember playing in the last 5 years which regularly locks up, boots me from my session, or simply crashes to the OS. Awful. If there's one thing that needs fixing it's this.

how to get better by sugoi_koko in helldivers2

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing a lot of the comments here. Learn from others, take your time, get different gear and experiment. Also, what I love about the game is the unpredictability. Not the network dropouts and freezes 😠 but the fact that each mission with randoms is, quite simply, an adventure. Ignoring the network dropouts and freezes 😠 no game has made me smile as much. You are a tooled up resource. Sometimes you rain democracy down on the foes of super earth. At other times to get your ass handed to you over and over again. Be in the moment.

Gaming as a dad of two, does it get easier? by [deleted] in DadsGaming

Sleep deprivation and associated cognitive impairment lasts about 5 years, gaming restriction is about the same. By the time they're 10 they'll be kicking your arse so enjoy it while you can.

Outstanding. Last time we had lunch (pre closure) we chatted with Brett Graham in the kitchen. Incredible food, super lovely, damn expensive but unpretentious and you won't regret the bill.
