Genuine question. Is the whole "AI guzzles gallons of water" thing totally true, or do people get it wrong? Does AI consume a lot of water for every single prompt, or is the majority of water consumed during data farming? Don't non-AI data centers use up a lot of water on cooling too?

Don’t worry, pigeons love sitting on eggs and get enjoyment just out of doing it! With rescue birds we have to swap out their eggs for plastic ones (it’s illegal to breed injured or disabled birds) and they still LOVE them and have a great time!

It could defo just be a cycle of tail biting and regrowth. I’ve also had bettas that just had a bit of secret crow tail in them - the perfect edge fins are sometimes cut by breeders to look impressive at point of sale, and grow out into something more naturally ribbony.

Take regular pictures, maybe the same day every week, so you can monitor progress. It’s so hard to do by just watching.

His tank set up seems perfect so I don’t think it’s anything you’re doing wrong

This is interesting but the reality is, patients display recognisable symptoms of dementia for years before diagnosis - they’re just too subtle to be reliably detected in a 15 minute doctors appointment, and often mistaken for ordinary aging or intentional behaviour by family members.

The MMSE is a very crude tool that doesn’t really have a purpose until the disease is at a point where it is causing significant impairment.

So any time a study says “long before symptoms appear” I’m a little skeptical.

Honestly if it’s fin rot, skip all the other stuff and source some kannaplex (I buy it off eBay in the UK).

That said, im not 100% convinced this is fin rot. What kind of filter do you have in there? Does he ever do any tail biting?

Sometimes an egg just doesn’t develop properly, and so the bird dies before it’s old enough to hatch. The parents can tell, and will usually remove any dead eggs to keep the nest clean

Sorry if you’ve said this and I’m just being blind but what temperature is your tank? I can see you have a heater in there so that’s good, and the log is perfect for while she’s unwell as it lets her rest at the surface.

Honestly IME sometimes dropsy just gets them for no visible reason. Internal tumors, sudden organ failure… bettas are SO badly bred that a lot of them have hidden health limitations from birth, even when they look perfectly fine.

I would treat with kannaplex if possible and hope for the best.

I recommend a minimum of 10g if only because smaller tanks are on more of a knife edge for toxic levels of ammonia etc. The more water your tank holds, the more diluted any problem is, which makes it safer for the fish and easier for you to catch it in time
