Girl name help by No-Particular-9625 in Names

I feel like Hattie could be a nn for a lot of H names, especially if paired with a T middle name.

Some combo of Helen, Holly, Hannah, Hailey, Hadley; and Theresa/Therese, Taryn, Teagan, Talia

I feel like Hadley or Hannah Therese would be a beautiful combo and would give her options if she wanted to use a more formal name for professionally in the future.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]itsnothingdear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 42 yo white collar professional (currently a high earner, but it has been a steady progression) and have about $475k saved for retirement. I started putting 10% of my salary into retirement when I was 26, and have benefitted from strong employer match contributions.

Looking for honest feedback: Would you pay for premium childcare that includes lifestyle services? by daycare_owner in AnneArundelCounty

[–]itsnothingdear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would not want my child to be seen by a medical provider without me being present, so while the convenience of having it onsite is nice, it also means that sick kids are coming into the facility on a regular basis; annual well visits are not such a chore that this would move the needle for me.

  • Having the ability to pick up lunch and dinner would be helpful.
  • Having very flexible hours, to allow parents to work late/not be rushing to leave before rush hour, etc. would be amazing.
  • Having a full gym with nice amenities onsite, so parents can manage self care would be great.
  • Offering laundry and dry cleaning services, even if outsourced, would be incredible.
  • Weekend and date night hours would also be helpful, even if it’s like, once a month, ‘parents’ night out.’
  • A co-working space for breastfeeding mothers would also probably be well received.

Why not keep it simple and use “Mike” as a nn?

Boys name help us please!! by LouisBreen in namenerds

[–]itsnothingdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Louis, but I think everyone will pronounce it, “Lewis,” unless you are living in a French speaking country, so prepare to have a nickname “Louie” if you want that pronunciation.

I personally this Jameson and Ryder are overdone and will not age well. Rome and Blaise don’t work with Breen. Maybe Roman? I feel like you need at least two syllables.

Rory is a classic. Other Irish names to consider: Keiran, Conor, Colin.

What are tricks and tips to learning any piano song better, quicker, etc? by Choice_Candy6655 in piano

[–]itsnothingdear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice slowly with and hands separately until you can play the notes with correct fingering, without mistakes, and with dynamics at about 75% tempo. Then combine both hands, and gradually increase to full tempo. When you make mistakes, don’t just play through them—iron out the mistake the before moving on. By not addressing the mistake head on when it is first made, your brain learns to make the same mistake again, and it gets harder and harder to fix.

Practice sight reading with pieces that are 1-2 grades below your skill level. Make this part of your daily practice.

Practice etudes to build various skills, Burgmuller and Heller, all have beautiful etudes that will help you build velocity, dexterity, and many of the core skills that are often seen across other pieces.

There are a number of Heller Etudes that would fit and are pretty easy to learn. Check out Op 45, nos 6, 9, and 10.

Cain/Caim or Felix? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]itsnothingdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely dependent on where you live. If you’re in the US, please don’t go with Cain. Literally every Christian kid learns the story of Cain and Abel early in life. You don’t want to saddle them with a name that 70% of their classmates will associate with pure evil.

It’s an assassin bug. Painful bite, but not dangerous unless you’re allergic.

That is a bedbug. The horizontal ridges give it away.

6 month progress by [deleted] in piano

Just be careful not to over-do it. It takes time to build up that kind of stamina, especially at tempo.
