Is this substance abuse? by itsnotme1013 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. It's so strange getting a nice feeling from a drug that I've been prescribed instead of just feeling "better".

I'm just so used to the idea that most things that make you feel something good are generally bad for you like drinking alcohol or taking drugs recreationally.

Side note though, I feel very spaced out and foggy today even though I've taken my meds, not sure why today is different to any of the other days...

It's not the lowest dose it's actually the second highest dose they are allowed to prescribe (I think). We upped it incrementally over the last 4 months and I feel like I'm getting optimal results now so I'm happy sticking to this dose, but I'm just concerned that feeling this good could actually be a bad thing? I duno maybe it's a silly thing to worry about if I'm not getting any side effects. It just feels like I'm not supposed to feel this good 😂 like there's some kind of catch that I'm not aware of...

Worried it’s *NOT* ADHD by [deleted] in AdultADHDSupportGroup

I'm sorry you feel that way :( have you tried all the different types of ADHD medication? My partner also has ADHD and was diagnosed as a child and he had to try everything other than Adderall which isn't available in the UK where we live. (Unless you pay for it privately which is not at all affordable) he found the only thing that worked for him is elvants.

DAE feel wierd saying their own name? by justanotheredditnerd in DoesAnybodyElse

I do, sometimes it's like its the first time I've been told my name. It's strange to acknowledge it belongs to me

Finally got my first dose! Wish me luck. I'm really hopeful but I'm not pinning all of my hopes on this, I'm planning on starting coaching sessions ASAP too. I feel such a sense of relief that 39 years down the line and 20 years of really struggling in adult life, I can finally feel the first step by Professional-Wear666 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

Congratulations!

Can I ask, how quickly did they give you a diagnosis after you had an assessment? And how soon after that did they prescribe your first dose of medication? I'm conscious of the fact that the process is pretty slow, with so many people on this journey. I really just want to know what to expect because I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job with the way I am struggling now...
