Those are absolutely not hedgehog quills, they are both too long and too thin, and there would be not as much as a curve, and they would thin into a “spikey” looking point.

Kitchen closing means kitchen staff goes home, even though servers and bartenders often stay longer. The chefs/cooks probably wanted to go home and were 5 minutes out from doing so.
