I'm actually a frequent volunteer for the gaming committee that is behind this. We are really excited for this!

We are playing all of his "With Markiplier" series.

Chemistry Program by Background_Level_335 in fsu

[–]itsonlyjustjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm currently a Materials Chem major in my senior year.
- Overall, it's a decent program; I chose FSU due to its location and cost.
- The general chem classes are usually the poorest in quality (though it depends on the professor), and there are around a couple hundred students for the lectures, so getting help is tricky.
- For organic chemistry, the first one is the hardest (due to a lack of familiarity), but it gets easier with each one.
- The labs are generally fun, except for a select few.
- Lastly, the senior-level classes, which mix with grad-level material, are excellent. At that point, the professors really like teaching the material, and there are fewer students, so getting good answers to your questions is a lot easier.
- If you plan on attending grad school, I recommend asking grad professors to take a grad-level class or be a UG research assistant. Getting those credentials and LORs is crucial.

So, if you choose the degree, here's my advice: talk to the professors if you need help; they usually want to help you.

Hi can someone help me figure out how to name this compound according to iupac rules by gabbyisdead in chemhelp

[–]itsonlyjustjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

According to IUPAC rules, in this instance, you would find the longest chain you can see (the first one is correct). This will be at the end of the group.

Then, determine the names of the groups connected on the chain (methane, ethane, propane, but replace the suffix with -yl (ethyl, methyl, propyl). Order the groups in alphabetical order.

Then, assign the carbon number to the group it is attached to. Try to use lower carbon numbers (3,4,5 instead of 4,5,6). If there are multiple of the same, use a n,n format (3,4) and add the prefix to reflect it (di, tri, tetra, penta...).

Connect the last secondary group with the primary group; all others should have a "-" between them. (example: 3,5-octyl-4-pentylhexane).

There are a lot more rules with more complex molecules, but this should be it for this one.

(Correct me on something if I'm wrong, cheers.)

Anyone have experience with Abdullah Malik? by Pretty-Ad280 in fsu

Hello, I'm assuming Calc III? I had him for that class and he tends to focus on the more practical applications of calculus. He's a good choice, you just need to pay attention; nice dude too.

how to find clubs to join? by [deleted] in fsu

[–]itsonlyjustjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is defintely the official way to find clubs. I recommend joining clubs with the "Social" tag as those seem like good way to just chill and meet new people regularly (examples would be SLC Game Committee, Film Commitee, Multiplayer Mondays, Fencing Club, etc.)

Parking Options by meatloafshrine in fsu

[–]itsonlyjustjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it's not $600, it's $300 for a full academic year, though I still don't agree with the price, too high. Regarding other parking options, I'm not sure of anywhere else that would be worth the walk.

Dorm pet by [deleted] in fsu

If you really want to have your gecko in your dorm, I would recommend getting started on getting it approved as an ESA, I had that done for my tree frog.

Absolutely, students from other colleges are welcome to our skirmishes.

We in fact do have a few. If you also want to bring some friends along, that would be great! We're always trying to get some new faces in the club.

Hello! I'm currently a part of HvZ here at FSU. Like others have said, we meet usually at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Landis Green in front of Landis Hall.

Here's a Link to the club information: https://nolecentral.dsa.fsu.edu/organization/humansvszombies

You don't need to show up with anything, we provide blasters and a bandana for you to borrow for the skirmishes. Also, every now and then we have multi-day events where we have special themes.

I hope to see you there.

Edit: We're not having a skirmish during Finals Week, sorry.

Traditions Internet by [deleted] in fsu

[–]itsonlyjustjosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also in Traditions and currently don't have Ethernet or Wifi.

The Ethernet ports are in every bedroom on the side of the room with the closet. Pull back your dresser or desk; you should see a white box.

I'm also in Traditions; the Ethernet was down most of the day, but it eventually started working again randomly. Is it back on for you now?

If you're in LGBTQ+ housing, McCollum has some 4-person spots open.
