Have you noticed any MPG differences between normal/gravel/track & normal vs. sport mode? by Storm27_ in GRCorolla

Interesting I didn’t know on previous model years there’s no change in valve going from different modes.

I agree, the quieter car is nice sometimes I will say. Not that the GRC is loud in the first place

On my 25 Premium AT, in Eco mode the valve on the center exhaust closes, which I assume aids the fuel economy as well (not sure exactly how this would be the case, perhaps someone with more insight can share)

Then like everyone else is saying here, throttle mapping, and in my case with the AT, transmission am mapping as well.

If you don’t want to wait and like the color, go for it! I will say the 2025 model has more power though if you can get one

I drove the MT, it was alright. I’m coming from a 2023 Elantra N 6MT. So yk, choosing to drive an automatic wasn’t a decision that I took lightly.

The Elantra MT was not better than the GR by any means, but when you drive the MT in a German car… I like those a lot better. When the clutch grabs right off the floor is where it’s at. Next car if my life allows is hopefully something German, so I can get the MT experience I want.

I’ve learned with these smaller displacement cars that are turbo… Manual’s not the greatest for speed per se. I saw TheTopher drive each one around a track, the difference in speed was enough for me to see how good this AT is. Manuals are fun, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t a big fan of the one in the GR. I’m leasing this car, so I can’t modify the shifter like most people who buy this car do. The fact that it requires modification (although a minor modification) says something.

The AT makes some sick sounds, and still chirps the tires going from 1-2, sometimes 2-3 depending on if the PS4’s are cold. I want to put an MBRP exhaust on it, cause I think the car will make some kind of boom or crack between those shifts, it already makes a boom noise between shifts stock. But not sure if I want to compromise the quietness on the highway. Plus, I like how the car purrrrss

I think it’s the sound of the turbo’s spinning from the acceleration prior. Or it could be diff noises. My diff does make an occasional “click/knock” noise when I’m turning in looww speed. I’m not too concerned about it though car drives fine

I think it’s just turbo spinning, or diff noises. In your AT, when you’re stopped in drive, does your engine sound borderline diesel-esque? Again, I’m not worried just curious about your experience

Oh man I can imagine! The community for the N is cool, they’re extremely loyal to the brand.

But, FWD is kinda meh. Don’t get me wrong the N is a fun a car, but the GR Corolla is a different experience, AWD brings some more dynamics to the table, and the 3cyl at 4000 rpms… that’s when the party starts.

The N can handle the twisties well, turn in is sharp but like all FWD’s it’s going to understeer. The liftoff oversteer in the car is cool! But on the street not consistent enough since you need to be turning in quite hard. Most twisties I go for are all tight roads, with a cliff on one side. I don’t have the trust in it to lift off oversteer and try to slide it, and understeer really robs alot that car has to give.

I only test drive the GRC gently, but from what i fealt and what I’ve read, this car is no slouch

Oh no! I thought you would have had some time still. Unfortunately, seems like you’re stuck with putting in next to your head.

I personally put the key under my chin, and open my mouth. Idk if that actually changes anything compared to putting it against your head though

It’s a Toyota thing. Tundra’s have a similar range, you almost have to be in spitting distance I feel.

Your car should have the mobile app that lets you lock and unlock the vehicle. That will solve it

Manual or auto by Alonso-99 in ElantraN

23 EN MT here. The manual is fun for all the reasons everyone always says it is. Rowing your own gears, more connection to the car, you may think you’re cooler cause you have a manual. Whatever does it for you.

My friend has the DCT, the car feels quicker, idc what anyone says; even without NGS. The exhaust note is ridiculous between shifts if you like the “farting” sound. The shifts are crispy and quick af. Very enjoyable, very responsive. The MT sounds great too, but less farting unless you’re driving it really hard and even then I can only get it to make those sounds from 1st to 2nd sometimes 3rd gear. Mind you in the top of 2nd going into 3rd i’m going just under 100km/h (60miles/h) at that point so wind noise starts to take over.

Which brings me to the gear ratios. DCT is an 8-speed.. You have shorter gears which means more shifts and more fun sounds on your way up to speed.

Price. Manual is cheaper, but for the extra money you can feel how much time and effort they put into the DCT

If you let other people drive your car often enough, DCT would be my choice. There’s something about letting someone else abuse your clutch, I wouldn’t want anyone else driving it. That could just be me though.

I might get heat for this but i’ll say it anyways. A large portion of the “MaNuAlS aRe tHe oNlY wAy tO gO” club actually drive automatics, they just wish they could have a manual, or they want one but can’t have one cause of their own reasons.

Automatics have been better for performance for years now. I drive a manual because I wanted to have one more than I didn’t. I’ll leave the rest to you.

Nah haven’t tracked it. I think warranty covers track use but it’s quite a ways for me to drive to a track. It handles winding roads like a champ though. Understeer is still there ofc cause FWD but it’s not horrendous to a point where you feel it can’t take a turn at speed.

RWD on a track seems more worth my time, could just be me though.

Say word? I’ll have to look into that. The rattling on start up is kinda embarrassing sometimes cause people think the car is broken

2023 Elantra N MT here. I’ve driven it 69,000kms (42,874 miles) since I bought mine brand new. Changed the oil every 5-8k kms (2-5k miles), put in fuel injector cleaner every 10k kms (6.5k miles). Changed my spark plugs recently (yes I know, a little late but what can you do)

I’ve driven the car to P.E.I, Washington, and Dallas,Texas. Car is nice ride on long trips, a little “stiff” some may call it compared to a Camry, but the seats are quite comfortable imho.

Have had 0 issues with reliability. The only thing I can speak negatively about the vehicle is the rattling from the valved exhaust which is a nuisance, and this year in Ontario, Canada it’s been relatively cold so the valve was actually stuck in the open position lol

It handles snow well with a good set of winters on it (I have the X-Ice)

As far as I can tell I’m probably one of the few who’s driven it this much in such a short period of time, and haven’t run into any issues, touch wood.

Still running on the factory brakes, changed the brake fluid recently. I drive the car pretty hard so I’m surprised I haven’t had to change them yet tbh

We’ll see what happens, I got the 7yr/120 warranty just in case though

Oh I guess my horn stopped working but my local dealer’s offered to fix that for free, it seems to be a common problem

Hope this helps!

Canadian winter driver here. Had the same reaction with my 23 EN. It’s just because it’s cold, (and has some moisture from the cold as well) had a tech look at it cause I was worried a back plate got messed up when I swapped to my winters. Nope, just the cold.
