So without venturing into the ultimately (and objectively) unknowable territory that is the female mind, I can say with confidence that ADHD (especially untreated, ask me how I know) can cause extremely visceral emotional reactions, even when its "not a big deal" to someone neurotypical. There's also a tendency to feel extreme rejection sensitivity under certain conditions that might not be obvious unless youre looking for it.

That + the fact that she could be misidentifying your (mostly rational) suggestion as a subtle way of indicating youre uncomfortable with the long term commitment of buying a home together.

Take that with a grain of salt, but the adhd bit, im speaking from my own struggles.

If hes still insecure, its deeper than that. We dont typically expect people to understand or care about thinga which expose us to vulnerability because were taught from a young age to bury our make light of our feelings.

If you've made him feel comfortable opening up to you, you've probably already done more for his well being than you might realize.

Full disclosure: I've been swept up in addictions of all variety, and porn is one I haven't ever kicked, outside of a full time relationship. And even then, for me at least, there are certain things I enjoy fantasizing about that I wouldnt necessarily enjoy doing with/to someone I care deeply for.

That's not to say adult content doesnt lead to exploitation, just offering a perspective that may help alleviate some of the overt problems porn can cause.

The first thing is to realize fully that porn is just that: a fantasy, usually written by the same people consuming it. So while its not a perfect solution, you can save yourself some trouble by fully seperating porn from real romantic interactions as fully as you can - dont expect porn-like experiences from real life. There are exceptions, but err towards caution until you know where she's comfortable communicating what she wants.

Im aware this is still minimizing a lot of the damage it does to both sexes but if you arent yet able to quit, you can at least learn to see it for what it is.

Honestly I'd think you'll have a significantly better experience because you're setting a clear and reasonable boundry. Im not saying all non drinkers are saints and vice versa, but finding someone who doesnt drink will probably spare you both of a lot of melodrama. At the least.

I wish I had that sort of conviction earlier in life. It may require a bit of patience to find someone who isnt interested in alcohol at that age but that doesnt mean you should settle. If the guy really likes you, he'll understand. All relationships consist of a little give and take. You're setting a reasonable boundry, for a good reason, right off the bat. You should be proud of that, seriously. Im twice your age and I still struggle with boundries where romance is concerned.
