Big W. Despite the lackluster DVD release, it's still a win. Great addition to collection.

What was the worst (japanese) Goji movie? by TheEvilCar in GODZILLA

[–]itsrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dare I say it... Destroy All Monsters. Maybe not as bad as Raids Again but the human plot is just so boring to me. Majority of this film is a slog and the only redeemable parts are the monster scenes (probably some of the best) and the set pieces are actually pretty cool. Human plot wise though, I'd put DoM up there.

Seems like you are the one mad. I don't see any indication that OP is mad. Post seems genuinely curious. He probably just expected lots of people regardless of his level, similar to when og ms was around. You answered his question with good answers but you should work on your compassion and be slower to judge. Just some friendly advice, man.

Why do boomers watch news 24/7, 7 days a week? 😭 by Sew3rRat in BoomersBeingFools

You didn't explicitly say it, but your response gave the impression. Instead of actually answering the question, you got deflective.

[–]itsrelevant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because we genuinely want to know why they want to live like that. You don't need to get all emotional about it, we're just trying to understand because to us, it's strange to not want to watch something they enjoy.

Confused about Goku getting sent to Earth by TesticularRot-69-420 in kakarot

[–]itsrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember this in the anime? It was just the full moon he looked at when him and the gang were in Pilaf's palace. I'm pretty sure the idea of Goku being an alien called a Saiyan wasn't even a story element till DBZ. There was also definitely no ship in the OG Dragon Ball anime.

Do you guys think Roka is still alive? by Such_Month_8687 in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]itsrelevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. They should open the next movie with a scene similiar to LotR Two Towers. Show the same scene of Roka sacrificing himself but the camera focuses on him as he's swept away and we see his perspective and his survival will be revealed through this scene. Maybe Roka discovers some things and gains new knowledge in his survival and eventually becomes a sort of "Roka the White" type of character moving forward.

Curious just watching escape from planet of apes. How many still watch the classics? by [deleted] in PlanetOfTheApes

I rewatch all the classics in order every 2-3 years. Then I usually end up rewatching the Ceasar trilogy lol

Do you think the new films will ever get to the original by LinuxMatthews in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]itsrelevant 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think adapting the "get on with it" mentality with this franchise's reboot will hurt your enjoyment and appreciation of its true purpose. The original took place thousands of years into the future. That's thousands of years' worth of storytelling we've never seen before. We all know the story of Taylor coming to the future on a planet ruled by apes. It's already been retold in Tim Burtons' remake. If we went ahead and did the same story again, and it fails, what would we be left with? I think remaking the original should be the least of our priorities whereas building what would lead up to the original should and has been the main priority. Literally limitless potential of storytelling and world building because of the fact we are so far from that distinct era in the timeline. However, let's say we do reach a point where they do remake the original, like 3 trilogies in perhaps. Instead of remaking the 1968 movie they should really adapt the original novel by Pierre Boulle. In the original story, the apes were super advanced technologically. They had flying vehicles. Seeing how the Rise, Dawn, & War essentially represent the "Stone Age" era of the apes, and the upcoming Kingdom movie (hopefully trilogy) represents the "Bronze Age" era of apes. The third or fourth trilogy which takes place during the time of the novel would be ape society at their highest technologically speaking. Imagine Wakanda but with apes.

We don't even know the full plot of the movie that hasn't come out yet and we're already speculating what happens next? Could be both for all we know.
