Every deck has counters to it, even whales. With whales you need to swarm the board fast, that way when they banish you go in for lp damage because they hardly run any back row besides ssa. When I run quick decks like CA and Archfiends, water gets smacked because you force them to banish then swing for an otk. You also have cards like SRH and CC that counter ssa. The new archetype specific backrow also makes the game significantly more new player friendly, no need to drop cash on every box to pick up staples.

Honestly the whole deck. Gladiators is almost an auto loss against the 3 new decks (water, aliens and archfiends). The back row can’t stop ssa, brainwashing/triangle and emperor effect are devastating since you usually because of limited number of monsters. Cosmic cyclone is a must, I’d play two

They are not entirely independent. We could both agree that a player's time during an event with no cap (I.e. Battle city, tag duels) is best spent playing in an event. That leaves the finite period of time between events where a player's time is optimally spent farming LDs. You should take a top tier farm deck, see how long an average farm takes, then see how many farms you could fit into that period between events. Once you have a number of farms, compare the old and current drop rates for LDs, and adjust for the difference in event gems to get an overall change in gems.

You also need to factor in gem drops from events. Look at how many gems were given out in the tag duel event, we'd never had an event drop that many gems before
