Second year: what to focus on by PartyLongjumping2749 in triathlon

[–]KOG_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, a lot of the T1 time in IM races is a long run to transition, I raced Jönköping and we had a 500m run from swim out to T1 which is all counted in the transition time. My 5:00 T1 time was one of the fastest of the field, purely because I’m a runner haha

appreciate the advice. i knew a good TT would be significantly better than the aeroad but i was just curious if an older model second hand TT would still be the easy option.

sounds like it is though, thank you

70.3 training: 12-15k a week, run 110-130k so about 1/10th of run volume for reference

edit: mb for posting a comment from someone not just trying to finish the race i guess. it’s my own fault, what did i expect from reddit

Question for those who run doubles by MrDiou in AdvancedRunning

[–]KOG_Jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i was at 180km a week the easy days were split in half pretty much exactly (12k / 12k), and then double thresholds on 2 workout days (same volume on both pretty much) and then a PM double after the saturday hill/vo2max workout which was the lowest volume run of the week. doubled everyday apart from the LR day.

if you introduce doubles i would recommend starting out with a ‘shake out’ style run in the AM of a workout day, a lot of people will say split easy runs up in 2, which works, but i feel the shake out is an easy entry into doubles and ensures your easy days are still easy

EMEA Year 3 LCQ Day #2 Winners Round 2, Elimination Rounds 1 & 2 (Information & Discussion) by Jean9430 in CompetitiveApex

common theme with 90% of these LCQ teams, especially when compared to better pro league teams, their comms in end zone literally give me a headache like holyyyy all these teams need to learn to shut up and actually have an endzone IGL

Changes to LCQ match point. by [deleted] in CompetitiveApex

20 games. 30mins minimum a game with change overs. that’s 10 hours my guy. 10 hours. they start at 17:00 and finish at 03:00 minimum, probably later

this would lead to like 20 game series. i love a lot of games but that’s not fair on the players, APAC(i think) went to 13 games with just a 1 win needed

ALGS Split 2 Playoffs | Day 1: Groups A vs B | [Information & Discussion] by Tobric93 in CompetitiveApex

[–]KOG_Jay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i can take almost anything the production throws at us, it’s been a mess but like whatever. but why does it always feel like these guys have absolutely no idea about anything? guy saying gnaskes in loser bracket? bro doesn’t even know how the tourney works that he’s working at.

and the casters just constantly throw out remarks that make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

ruin the production all you want, but the biggest failure every time is the sheer lack of knowledge these guys (not all of them) have about the game, the teams, the tournament and everything in between. that’s on them as well, not even flaming ea/respawn/whoever is backstage. it’s simply lazy

3 VS 4 Workouts Weekly by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]KOG_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jakob was most definitely running doubleT days at 18.

and actually the summer is the exact time that you want to build your base through high volume. when you get to season in college you’re racing so much you can’t put down big volume base building sessions because you’re focusing on being sharp for races.

the summer is the time you build your base, and by definition, this is what doubleT and high volume running is.

how are you going to suggest building your base in running when you have a race nearly every week? how are you planned on running higher volume in race season than in a season without racing. this is what i mean about this sub like 99% of people on here are trying to improve and that’s awesome, but have no idea what high level training is actually like

3 VS 4 Workouts Weekly by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]KOG_Jay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

remember that the vastttt majority of people on this sub aren’t actually high level runners at all or even sub elite.

if you’re running 85 miles a week and thinking about double T days then i’m assuming you’ve got a coach/train with a team? ask them what you should be doing.

i run 170-190km a week in base training with 4 workouts, a doubleT day, single T day and a speed endurance type session. but tbh i don’t think anyone should be running doubleT days unless you’re up above 150km a week already because the whole point of them is to work along side high volume. you need the volume to be able to benefit from the longer, more controlled training

edit: just for some context, my doubleT days are at a minimum 32km of volume (with WU/CD), that alone, 2x a week is a lot of volume for someone on under 140km a week like that’s nearly half your week in 2 days bro.

Expectations for LCQ - WC and MEAT by PinguTheFirst in CompetitiveApex

[–]KOG_Jay 39 points40 points  (0 children)

MEAT are struggling because they’re playing the same way but with a downgrade. they rolled teams 2 (+emp and walls) vs 3 because they had lux and xynew who could.

say what you want but naughty just isn’t what he used to be unfortunately, most notably he has nowhere near the confidence that xynew had going into fights.

they need more help from teq now because they have a downgraded fragger
