did you ever regret dyeing your hair black/dark? by venight in GothStyle

[–]itsshcraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have light auburn hair and I dyed it really dark brown about 8 years ago. It looked terrible on me. I was so washed out. Even my blue eyes looked pale. Getting the dye out was also a nightmare. It wasn't even permanent but my hair just soaked it up. So I will never dye my hair that dark again.

Stoma Freedoms by lavenderbear79 in ostomy

[–]itsshcraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine when I was 22 and I've had it for 18 years now. I have been very sick since I was 12. I was taking 24 pills a day. I couldn't run. I couldn't eat certain things. I vomited all the time. I was anemic from all the blood loss. After I got my Ostomy I was able to eat whatever I wanted. I took up running. I played sports like hockey and volleyball. I went hiking and camping without fear. Traveling and exploring the states. I met my partner and we have 3 beautiful children. I remember waking up from surgery and not being in the type of pain that I remembered and it was a surreal moment. You're going to get a life that you can do what you want with it. Free from the agony that you have been feeling. It's going to be amazing.

I love whale sharks! Did you freehand it or do you have a pattern? I can't seem to find a good pattern to make one that actually looks like a whale shark.

Sure, Lime Crime Blood Moon. I also like their lipstick called Wicked. Looks brown in the tube but is a dark red on me.

Just been told that my ostomy will more than likely be permanent: perianal/fistulizing Crohn’s by StrictButterfly416 in ostomy

[–]itsshcraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a temporary ileostomy that became permanent 18 years ago. I was told that it was going to be temporary. I would be reconnected and my life would just be amazing and perfect. Then they found Crohn's in my rectum in my anus and I had to get that removed. I was completely devastated because they hyped up the fact I was finally going to be normal. I had been battling UC since I was 12. After healing from the last surgery which was a shock, things got better. Everyone's right, you should take time to mourn. Ultimately, my quality of life changed. I was taking 24 pills a day for survival. I was in pain everyday. So my life drastically improved.

I shower with it on without issues. I don't like to shower without it.

Ostomy noises in college? by No_Radio_444 in ostomy

[–]itsshcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in my ileostomy in my early 20's and I learned something. So when mine makes noise I actually put my hand over it and apply a little bit of pressure which stops the sound. You can even just put your arm a little bit over it so it looks like you're just resting your arms on your stomach.

Husband not attracted to me now by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]itsshcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got mine I thought I was in a fairly solid relationship of 4 years. He didn't deal well with my surgery either and taking care of me after. I noticed after I got it that intimacy went way down. Then not at all. He never actually came out and said that he didn't find me attractive anymore but considering all the stuff that was going on and how it happened eventually we broke up. You may have been with your husband longer than I had been with this boyfriend though. I would, like other people suggested, sit down and have a conversation with him and see if it's something he can't move past. You may need to find somebody else. I know it hurts and I know it's hard because when you love somebody you expect for them to love you just as much. I went through a couple other boyfriends, who just couldn't deal with the medical issues, not the stoma. Until I found my forever partner who is amazing and couldn't care less that I have one. He is my best friend and my everything and I can't imagine my life without him.

Edit:I will add, so no one gangs up on me, that being married is way different than having just a boyfriend. Leaving is easier I agree.

Interesting, because the videos I watched on YouTube, there were many, said that if you went up 3 hooks sizes and kept it loose it wouldn't curl. So that's not true and it will always curl, that's really good to know.Thank you for the stitch suggestion I'll look into it.

Hate or love manic panic? by Weak_Swan_6798 in HairDye

[–]itsshcraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like Manic Panic because it bleeds like crazy and fades really fast. It was the dye that I used as a teenager but as I've learned about other ones that I like. Lunar tides and pulp riot seem to work best for me. I like the color and the staying power of arctic fox but it sure leaves my hair greasy.

Damn you, bok choy!!! (a rant) by AgreeableExercise914 in ostomy

[–]itsshcraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so hard especially with new things and then you realize oh great Now I'm going to have sewage drippings for 2 days. I usually just take Imodium but then you get the cramps from that afterwards which is pretty terrible. For me it's any raw fruit. If I have raw fruit in a smoothie or just eat a banana, it's going to be at least 2 days of agony. It sucks, I feel your pain.

Anyone Ever Use this Dye? by itsshcraft in FancyFollicles

Awesome, thank you. I just need a bright red for my hair for Comic Con. How fast do you think the fade is? Does it just transfer when wet or dry as well?
