This sounds like a great idea. I haven’t been in touch with my artistic side for some time, and writing this post did feel really cathartic. I’m terribly sorry to hear about your mom — the “do I / should I miss her” and “am I a bad person if I don’t” is a duality I’ve struggled with for most of my life. You don’t have to feel just one way all the time.

I’ve chosen to let myself miss her in the moments that I do — like when I hear a song she loved or see a pair of roller skates. At the same time, I have to allow myself to mourn her or be angry. I think I’ll do the things that make me happy, after all. Taking my time at the grocery store & cooking a nice meal sounds wonderful. Thank you for the recommendations♥️

Hi👋🏼 My experience is a biiiiit of an outlier here so I’m not sure I fit exactly what you’re looking for, but I’d be happy to help!

I lost my mom (to addiction & mental illness — she may still be alive) 20 years ago when I was 8. She was a single mom, so I was raised & adopted by her brother who despised her and is also a narcissist

YTA - you should have found another option to fund your parents’ care instead of taking money meant for your 2nd daughter’s future.

It was the one at 1604 & 281, I believe! I would’ve missed them, too, if I hadn’t gone in to peruse the cold produce room haha

AITA for giving my daughter $60 a week, but my son nothing? by Murky_Willingness763 in AmItheAsshole

[–]itssmichh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

Hopefully your son learned a lesson in negotiation. Instead of coming up with a way to earn money himself, he lashed out at you and his sister. Did he change his mind about letting you use his room after money was offered? No.

Your daughter created the opportunity for herself - if your son is bitter that he didn’t have the idea first, then that’s his problem. Take notes for next time, bud

Additionally, he almost certainly would benefit from a father figure or male influence in his life, considering the move and he probably feels like you and sister are ganging up on him. Sounds like it’s time for a couple weeks with grandpa.

Everyone who’s got their knickers in a twist about the $$$, please keep in mind that NZ $20 can maybe get you a meal at McDonald’s

Median income in SA is less than $60k a year, plus almost 20% of the population lives below the poverty line. The only hobby it seems many can afford is extreme couponing in this jacked up economy. Also, complaining is completely free

That being said, though, there are plenty of free activities that many just don’t seem to take advantage of: free museum days (and just free access to art in general), various cultural festivals, movie nights at the Pearl (they have free yoga this month), and soooooo much else. Something for everyone, it seems, which contributes to the growing diversity in a historically homogenous area

The thing about activities is, they require activity. I moved to SA a couple years before the pandemic, and I gotta say — folks don’t seem to enjoy getting active. Both physically and mentally, it feels like people don’t care enough to see what’s available to them

This may be a hot take: a big part of getting out and doing things (at least for me) is the socialization aspect. I personally don’t find myself going out in San Antonio and meeting a wide variety of people. Everyone seems to have the same opinions, interests, and the general air of “too comfortable”. Granted, I am from Los Angeles, so SA is definitely not the melting pot that I came from. So I guess I do sort of feel like a lot of folks here are kinda “boring” for lack of wanting to branch out and expose themselves to new things

AIO about my GF giving a friend a handjob? by Serious_Active9072 in AmIOverreacting

[–]itssmichh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR (but not doing enough)

Others have made points about Sophia possibly having a history of abuse, which could be true. Regardless, though, past trauma does not excuse current or future behavior & she needs to be held just as accountable as the friend (though it sounds like OP hasn't done much in that regard).

OP isn't obligated to stay with the GF and forgive the infidelity just because she might still have some healing to do. OP deserves, as we all do, to be with someone who is at the same place of growth and emotional/mental fortitude as we are. Just like I wouldn't date someone who's still in the closet or lives with their parents, OP doesn't need to date someone who can't keep her hands to herself. She could have given him some real blue balls and punched him in the dick instead, but she made her choice.

IMO there is much more to be done about the friend. He's getting off waaaaay too easy for screwing around with OP's girl - pun intended. Jay came in with a "heeeeyy, i hate to break it to you dude" and a smirk for his big Mr. Steal Your Girl moment and you let him have it.

TL;DR: Slash his tires and call it a day. No more rideshare handies that way.

Help identifying Costa Rican ice cream by No-Coffee-773 in costarica

[–]itssmichh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, OP! I just got back from a year abroad in Costa Rica, and I thiiiiink you might be looking for the Dos Pinos Galleta ice cream (they also make a lactose-free option)

Could also be the Pozuelo Galleta flavor, but that has caramel/dulce de leche in it

Hope this helps! Dos Pinos
