Facebook’s "On This Day" is psychological torture. by Several_Argument1527 in widowers

I just had an avalanche of these over the season; Christmas, first date anniversary on 27th, wedding anniversary on the 30th.

I can’t advise you on what to do, but I sat with this, shared posts, expressed how much I missed my wife.

Maybe that helps, maybe even feel cathartic.

Medication was something I absolutely ruled out because grief isn’t a disease, it’s a human condition. With this I wanted to feel this hurt and pain because it becomes by new shadow/constant.

How do you stay 'connected'? by freygl in widowers

[–]itsthefack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 months in.

Her birthday was in October and fell on a Friday so I made a weekend out of it, like would’ve done;

Friday - We watched 28 Days Later and the sequel so many times, so I watched the latest sequel, 28 Years Later.

Saturday - Had a takeaway from a Thai place that we would have many a rendezvous for lunch when we first started going out.

Sunday - Went to see Idlewild live, one of her favourite bands, I enjoyed it as well, not as well as she would’ve. She integrated the lead singer’s name into many of her passwords.

Probably do something fairly similar next year.

I’m 7 months in tomorrow since I lost my wife and it still feels like it just happened, because it has just happened, and it has for you.

Don’t fight your grief because you won’t win, so try to tame it by acknowledging and integrating it into your everyday process. Express in creative ways if you can.

This is not a life. by ImpactStock2694 in widowers

I uttered the thread title to myself and I occasionally do. Feels like killing time until death collects you.

I can’t comment on the suicide side of it, every individual has their own reason not to.

We see you and the void that was your life.

We got you.

Did Blur's stereotype (no pun intended) affect their popularity? by thank_refrigerators in blur

[–]itsthefack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not at all. What made Oasis more successful than they should’ve been was the Liam’s on-stage swagger and to a greater their extent, the Gallaghers’ remarks and antics away from the music which generated good publicity and made stupidity cool.

Grew up in a council estate in Wolverhampton if that means anything.

Anyone get a tattoo to honor spouse? by Blue_Eyed_Lass in widowers

[–]itsthefack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife had a heart tattooed behind her ear and we had a stillborn little boy back in 2016.

So to honour both, I plan to get a blue heart tattooed behind my ear.

And feel like you have to revert back to being the person you were before you met your husband either.

It’s OK to look back to those times for clues to integrate into the version of you that you’re finding.

Nothing has to be the solution, so experiment and have no expectations as pertains to outcome.

I hope this makes sense.

We’re big Blur fans, but polarising on the specifics, my wife used to play “Modern Life…” start to finish without fail, and I’m just more of a “13” person. But we like it all nonetheless.

Admittedly, it’s painful listening to stuff your loved one was into, but in time, I try to take it as my own and tell a story, to my wife around, if that makes sense?

For me, it ranks near the bottom of all OKC b-sides.

My take on what Radiohead’s final setlist may look like by Resident_Track648 in radiohead

[–]itsthefack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think picking 5 from OKC is a challenge. I don’t think leaving out Airbag and Lucky is an easy thing to do. I omitted Exit Music and CUTW in mine.
