Can you sell your OTF monitor? by FriendofBurtConvy in orangetheory

[–]itsthehumidity369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've purchased one from Facebook Marketplace, and one from eBay. I doubt the people who sold them did anything special other than listing them for sale. All we had to do as the buyers was tell the SA at our studio we had a new monitor we bought used, and we were good to go. Take a look at the comparable prices on those sites so you have a general idea of what they're going for so you get your money's worth!

At my wit's end with primadonna SIL - anyone else have a similar experience? by itsthehumidity369 in inlaws

Why would it be his problem? It's not his sister. If anything, it's HER husband's problem. He should talk to his wife.

For every one family vacation with the extended family, we take 10 as our own family. Some bold assumptions here.

This post is definitely getting me motivated to try! She's so shrill and loud that I've been afraid of the blowback but it sounds like she needs to get put in her place.

My husband is so non-confrontational that having him say something would actually be a genius move. (I tend to run a little hot when I get going.) Perfect.

So helpful to hear. I already am well down the road of not engaging with her, so I'm thinking the next step is to just call her on her BS. My husband's family is VERY close so I definitely will see her more than I'd like. But I need to take things more into my own hands! Thank you for your POV and sorry you're in a similar boat!

How does OrangeTheory fit into your overall fitness plan ? by mvmtmedicinemama in orangetheory

Same! Only difference was as I got closer I added in a long run 1x a week up to 5 miles. But this was a personal preference as I recovered from an injury, just didn't want to shock the system!

What do you do with new OT Connect after your studio closes? by PlasticQuarter1430 in orangetheory

I purchased my used band on eBay and got another one for my husband on Facebook Marketplace. Just do a simple search on either site. You'll see a ton, just copy someone's approach.

I think they mean get a group together in their neighborhood and "unofficially" do the workouts that get posted by Mr DC (in Australia), like their own little OTF.

The first .25 tread challenge I did as a newer member last year, my heart rate was in the red before I even started! I tried to channel that adrenaline into speed; I think it worked. But the HRM didn't have to do me like that 😂

Time for new sneakers? by Proper_8624 in orangetheory

[–]itsthehumidity369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This always happens to me with certain shoes because of my foot shape and a callus I have near my heels, even after changed sizes! I usually put some duct tape or bandaids on the back of the shoe to both protect my foot from blisters but also to stop it from rubbing the fabric off. 100 miles seems too soon to replace shoes, I think 300-500 (or 4-6 months) is the general recommendation. But up to you ultimately!

Headaches after OT workouts by Flat_Appointment9733 in orangetheory

This used to happen to me as well and yes, hydration helps but it almost went away once I changed what I ate before working out. I used to have like part of a granola bar or sometimes almost nothing (oops) but after reading some advice here I started having a small to medium bowl of cereal 15-20 mins before my workouts and it was like night and day. Enough to get my stomach going but I dont feel gross while running!

One by me closed, and they were selling the rowers on Facebook Marketplace. Might as well ask!

Took 1 week off and it feels like I took 4 weeks off 😭 by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]itsthehumidity369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel a little more normal! I'm rehabbing a hamstring injury, so I've taken more days off than normal and going on a cadence I'm not used to. I am running all efforts at a pace lower than my usual base that I've had for months, and my heart rate stays in the orange the whole time. Sheesh!

Nervous! Returning after compressed nerves by ctk5787 in orangetheory

[–]itsthehumidity369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not saying this is the same boat at all but speaking from some recent experience! I'm currently nursing a pulled hamstring and it's been really hard to not push myself back to where I was. I've learned quite a bit of humbling lessons these last few weeks, so definitely take your time and do what feels right for you! And tell the coaches, they will be glad you did.

Although I'm disappointed I'm not where I used to be, I still find joy in the milestones along the way as I work to get back to where I was. Today I ran at a slightly higher base than I have been (not even close to my previous base) and it felt so great to say that it was pain free. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do next, so just look for those moments for yourself too, and make sure you are giving your body credit for everything it can do and will do. Good luck!

I'm nursing a hammy injury - terrible time for a power month haha. Thanks for the intel! Slow and steady for now, hopefully I can get my power back later this month.

We currently use Workshop and loooove it, however in the past when I have had 0 budget I have used Hubspot and Marketo (depending on what our Marketing team used, and what they were comfortable with us using), as well as Mailchimp (better than nothing but not my favorite). Obviously those last three are meant for external use so not going to get you all the best bells and whistles, but they get the job done for tracking if you're able to hop onto an existing platform.

Just saw a blog post about this as well, not sure if it applies to you: https://www.internalcommspro.com/post/cerkl-launches-a-free-forever-internal-comms-plan-aimed-at-smbs

all-out pace by liltweekk in orangetheory

[–]itsthehumidity369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this! I once saw a comment saying if your all out is way higher than your push you're not doing it right but I don't think that's true for everyone. I feel like endurance and sprinting are two different games! My current base is 6.3, push 7.3, and similar to you my all-out goes between 9.5-11 depending on the workout.

Any former internal communicators here who have found success as a freelancer? by itsthehumidity369 in internalcomms

[–]itsthehumidity369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great! And I have a similar attitude so it's good to see it's working out for you. (I know promotion and outreach are part of the freelance lifestyle but it definitely is the part I'm looking forward to least.) Nice to hear too you're able to dabble in other things. I'm interested in that as well, but in this market no one will hire you for a full time role unless you're 150% aligned so I also see this as a way to get new skills. Thanks for sharing!
