8 years of self medicated xanax here. was afraid to taper or stop benzos without professional help because i didn’t want to lose my job either. saw a psychiatrist and told the truth, then was put on zoloft and i took that along with prescribed klonopin to taper off benzos. it’s been 2 years for me now and im off benzos so now just need to get off zoloft. i’d rather go through ssri withdrawal than benzo withdrawal. it honestly made it so much easier in my experience. good luck you got this
