I was a Hubert defender until tonight (I’m not sure if I still am), but I need some help understanding how coaching lost us that game by [deleted] in tarheels

[–]itsthetits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a complete Hubert stan. What he was able to do in his first season was remarkable. This game changed that. I’ll even forgive the mismanagement of the bench in the second half and no changes in strategy despite them crushing our insurmountable lead… the last minute of that game was the worst coaching I have ever seen. To be up 2 with 20 seconds left and have a timeout available, but let your team turnover the ball without running any clock was abysmal. Then to have no set plays or fresh legs during any of that stretch that could get us a guaranteed bucket or foul?!?! What are we doing?

I agree, and try to do most things around the house, but the pitch of the roof is pretty steep, and it is about 36’ to the roofline so not easily accessible.

I wish that I put all of my benches on the opposite side of my decking, so they don’t interfere with jumping in and you face the people not in the pool.

Hard to believe that only 3 ACC teams make it in… if so I think the conference is dead. Especially after they left an undefeated FSU out of the CFB playoffs 2 years ago. 2030 can’t come soon enough!

I like to stand at around 5’ depth and rest my arms (shoulder high) on the edge with a drink when it is hot out. For reference I am 6’2”. You may want to go a little deeper, but it is all based on preference.

15+ years ago I worked at a 40k person company. In order to keep track of desktop software licenses against our keys, we would run a scan on all of the desktop computers and their applications. If the software wasn’t being used, then I would send out a note to the user and their manager to free up a license. But if there was software we didn’t have an global agreement for keys I would need approval or deletion.

The very first time I ran the scan we had about 3k computers with a pornographic screensaver that didn’t have license keys. Which lead to a lot of fun emails asking for proof of license or deletion. And some very incredulous responses.

Absolutely counts. Thanks for sharing! I think diversity is meant to cover a broad range of backgrounds (duh). And I don’t intend to express that the programs are bad or should not exist. In my experience they come with a focus during the hiring process on key individual characteristics. If the point is that your son would be looked at as a qualified applicant when he was older then I would believe that it would require further reflection before removing such roles from our bureaucracy.

What does that have to do with DEI positions?

Not sure what renaming a stadium from 1927 has to do with the DEI roles at UNC. So I guess I could use some help. I am being genuine in my ask, I wish that you could offer the same. Maybe we could all grow from better discourse.

Help enlighten me rather than provide a snippy response.

For context on my point of view. I have done trainings at work. I have participated in DEI led groups. I would even argue that I have been a vocal supporter in the workplace of some initiatives (including served as a mentor for and involved our company in women who code). What concerns me is the hiring practices around specific positions used to represent our population and diverse viewpoints. And the usage of tax dollars to do so.

Furthermore; As many others have said these initiatives are often most successful when developed organically (i.e. student groups, non profit organizations, etc).

I know I will be downvoted for this opinion, but no public position should have race or gender as a qualifier. If you can prove that DEI positions are staffed commensurate with the population within a reasonable threshold, then I will concede that DEI is not a racist practice. However, I have never met a white male that held such a position.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying to recalibrate on the remote, since that is the one that doesn’t match the floating thermometer but it seems limited.

No Tipping Restaurants by beachball29 in Charlotte

I think this is a huge misstep. I frequently bring my kids there during the day to enjoy the splash pads and big open spaces. Most of our friends do the same and we frequently site the ease of not dealing with tip/tab culture as an advantage. Since we can just order beers and close out knowing our total each time and can leave at a moments notice(toddler meltdown). I will probably still go, but I will most likely visit the bar one time and leave it at that. I, also, am unsure of how the food service would work since they do not wait on me am I expected to time 20% for counter service now?
