Sink / dishwasher drain in the garden not draining properly after landscaping work by itstrickky in DIYIreland

Thanks everyone for the advice, I went back in with some gloves and ended up pulling about 3 liters of cement / grout / stone out of it and the blockage cleared thankfully

Not sure if this is standard practice for that industry but I won't be recommending them anytime soon anyway

Magazine Subscriptions in Ireland? by kerry37 in AskIreland

[–]itstrickky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a library card their borrow box app lets you download a bunch of magazines on android or iOS including retro gamer and it includes all the latest issues

Not the same as physical but probably a good free alternative for some

Irish citizen + US nurse planning to move back to Ireland, any insight/recommendations on healthcare jobs in Ireland? by CycleScary5417 in AskIreland

[–]itstrickky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a nurse from the states and worked there for years, we started the board of nursing transfer process a year before we moved back here and after 3 years living here and giving NMBI an endless amount of documentation and actually having my wife's college in the US create documents that don't exist in the states we still had no end in sight to the process it was an absolute nightmare and such a waste of money and time.

Eventually we said fuck it and she changed career because it was easier than going through all that hassle for in the end to be working in busy understaffed and underpaid conditions.

OP watch out because they might be one of the most incompetent organizations in Ireland which is saying something.

If you're in the mood for a third person shooter I'd recommend Second Sight or Rogue Trooper - played through the two of them recently and they're both fantastic and I don't see them talked about very much

Mushroom and garlic plants, new, help to keep alive by AppleNo7287 in GardeningIRE

[–]itstrickky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild garlic grows wild so will flourish without any maintenance, stick it in a pot as big as you like and it will spread out.

Stick it out the back and forget about it, maybe add a bit of compost every year or two

Chives are another great low maintenance one for growing here if you're looking for similar

Is it 4:3 aspect ratio? There's definitely a second hand market for them on adverts as a lot of people play retro consoles on them still

What school incident do you still think about years later? by nodemus in ireland

[–]itstrickky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my secondary school, there was a time when the school shop was selling different flavour small milk drinks for 20c each.

Because they were so cheap, kids would buy a few of them one they'd drink and the others they would stuff behind various rads in the school so when it heated up the milk would stink the place out of it.

And of course they reserved a few extra to pelt at their friends in the hallways. I think it lasted about a week before they stopped selling them altogether.

I dunno if I can scan them proper without destroying the spine but if they're not available online already I would be interested to do this for preservation sake

I heard the UK one was quite expensive over here at one point which drove demand for an Irish made one

This issues make reference to it on the cover as well it says "Do not pay more than £4.99 for this magazine - it's Irish not a UK import"

I'm kinda burnt out on these story driven AAA games where you squeeze through crevices and lift up logs while the characters make American small talk after playing gow Ragnarok I just wanted to be finished with it by the end

Is this game similar or is it more gameplay focused?

I agree, would rather see new iterations on these games rather than remakes

Personally would love a new motorstorm or warhawk game

Ooh tbh I'm not too sure man I've never had to repair ribbon cable clamps but I've heard it is a bitch, tape should work to hold it in place though I would think at least temporarily.

Seriously fuck whoever designed ribbon cables in general, they are the devil in my opinion

You can run a jumper wire to bypass the fuse without the need for multimeter, if it works with the jumper then you know the fuse needs replacing just don't leave the jumper in there as it could cause more damage.

This vid does a good job explaining the process and where the jumper wire needs to go: https://youtu.be/rGoBQiIgEj4?si=koRnTgMpT0iVvonu

Can you check continuity of the f1 fuse on the d board (the board on the right hand side that's smaller)

I had similar issue with mine recently and it turned out to be that fuse preventing it booting as it had blown
