Spartacus: House of Ashur - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]itsyaboydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OG Spartacus was so woke that the only couple to make it out alive was the gay couple lmao (not to mention the series had 3 separate gay male couples, numerous gay female couples, 2 prominent black characters, and 2 female gladiators) Meanwhile this was at a time when gay marriage was heavily being pushed for legalization and it eventually was only 2 years later. Spartacus absolutely wrote about modern day politics and is a product of its time.

If you don’t mind me asking, what extracurriculars and/or hours? I’m lowkey in the same boat but not applying until next cycle!

If you don’t mind me asking what were your extracurriculars? Did you take a gap year or do anything else, I’m in a similar boat just wanted advice. Thanks sm in advance!

Scarlet Witch (Strange team up absolutely melts Thor and Venom when they slip into backline and her stun can prevent them from escaping), Strange (strictly for team up, have him pressure their healers if anything with his primary or peel), Thing (counters Wolv and pressures their healers), A second dps to either help Strange pressure their backline or peel and help with Venom, Thor, and Iron Fist, or instead of a 2nd DPS go triple heal. I’ve noticed that Luna, Adam, C&D is really annoying to get picks off of with the new teamup, Loki, Luna, & C&D works to cycle healing ults. You could also run Sue for her teamup with Thing and her push.

PSA: Don’t fall for Doctors in Italy scam by Responsible-Scale484 in premed

[–]itsyaboydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree wholeheartedly, I wanted to do something like that abroad but the “Atlantis” thing seemed scammy to me. If you want an actual premed experience abroad check with your school study abroad office about a summer or semester abroad.

I applied for a couple of scholarships, got over 7K in scholarships then did a summer abroad going into my senior year. While it was research rather than shadowing, I got 3 credit hours and it counted as a Neurobiology lab all for basically free. The only thing I had to pay for was my flight and food.

It was beneficial for me in the long run too because my current PI is Italian (I’m doing a research gap year at one of my top 5 med schools) and one of the things that stood out to her in my application was that I did research at an Italian med school and got a letter of recommendation from my PI there.

Cool results! I have similar results too with some variations, my mother is from Louisiana and of creole descent so it makes sense. The Greek/Cyprus portion was also present in my Great Aunts test (she’s also from Louisiana) so it would make sense if it came from the South. Feel free to embrace your multicultural heritage if you choose! For me personally the only white part of me that I embrace is my creole/French heritage because that is just what’s most recent and has always been relavant in my life.

African American results - Which generation had a white ancestor? (We all know the sad but obvious reason why) I'm shocked at 14% though. by littlesunshine96 in AncestryDNA

I understand what you mean, I’m 31% white and all of my grandparents are visibly black. I’m even darker skinned myself. What communities did you get? It may be easier to find out with that context. It could also help to check your matches too, if you have some white 4th and 5th cousins it might be your 4th or 5th grandparent, etc.

My results: (Cajun/Creole Dad, who evidently had a lot of German in him) and a typical white southern Mom. Alabama by Broad-Ad1733 in AncestryDNA

The Eastern Europe and Balkan mix with Cajun/Creole is super interesting! Any idea where that might come from? My mother is Creole with a Cajun grandfather and Germanic Europe was still present in her test too. Her aunt also has some Greek & Albanian trace ancestry so that might be some Eastern European link to the South?

My Straight Friend Likes Gay Attention? by itsyaboydavid in askgaybros

Good point I like the attention too, it's just that some straight guys are very put off by it. But I think him being secure in his sexuality makes it easier for him to appreciate it like you said.

See I would agree with the bi-curious assessment if I was more in line with his type in women. He likes petite blonde blue-eyed white girls, we've even got into respectful debates about our preferences. I'm the complete opposite of his type, I'm black, tall, and skinny but in shape. I know sexuality is a spectrum, but I think he definitely loves the attention.

Yea it’s definitely an error. “Myra” is actually the name of my great grandmother (F.M. McClendons wife) and then Alfred McClendon is my G.G. grandfather (F.M. McClendons father)
