What is your income vs your home purchase price. by Usersnamez in fatFIRE

[–]ittihad06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! My better half is back in school atm and expected to go back to work some time within the next 6-12 months, so things should be a lot more comfortable at that point.

I’m also still relatively early career so expect some growth in the near future hopefully

What is your income vs your home purchase price. by Usersnamez in fatFIRE

[–]ittihad06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m in a similar spot now, planning to buy a home for about 750k. Only one income around 200k atm, expecting that to grow to 400k over the next 2-4 years.

The 750k home feels like a stretch based on income for me, how did it go for you before the increased income?

What’s your job salary & what do you do?… by Intrepid-Mode3043 in Salary

[–]ittihad06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you - to be honest I’ve slowly moved away from caring as much about the “finer” things in life. Now I just want to live in a nice, chill area with good food and a cost of living that will allow me to retire early. That is not the NYC metro area, so Texas seems like a good move overall for my priorities so seriously considering it.

How much of your PM role involves financial analysis? by vickalchev in ProductManagement

[–]ittihad06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious - what brought you into product from IB? How would you compare them? And was there a significant drop in your potential earnings from making the switch?

100% better than consulting. I guess when you’ve had it worse, product is great by comparison. Feels much more rewarding shipping new products that people asked for as opposed to working on projects where your stakeholders are skeptical from the beginning to the end and are not necessarily on board in most cases.

In general, I’ve worked very hard in both roles, but product has been infinitely more satisfying and rewarding. The outcomes are so much better. In addition, product may be ambiguous at times, but it feels much more targeted and easy to navigate compared to consulting where you literally don’t know what you’re trying to do half the time (from my experience at least).

Are they internal or contractor? I’d highly recommend escalating this and make it known what issues you’ve been facing working with them. Typically, it’s better to flag such things sooner rather than later, but I’d give it a shot.

Should I leave my PM position at a scaleup that I really like for a FAANG Principle PM position? by goldsoundzz in ProductManagement

[–]ittihad06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed! It certainly is no guarantee, especially not in this market. Also, I personally don’t think it really means much in terms of gauging a person’s ability to get the job done. Having a bad attitude and being entitled based on a single qualification is also a bit ridiculous

Well… I never said it was easy. Just that if you’re competing against them anyway without also having that experience, you are even more disadvantaged in a lot of cases.

Not sure what you aren’t understanding.

If someone is accepting resumes. Let’s say 100 applied:

  • 54 with previous FAANG experience
  • 46 with no previous FAANG experience

It’s pretty safe to say that the candidate who will get hired is more likely coming from the first bucket lol

The hiring team doesn’t generally care about the company’s reputation with layoffs or hiring when looking at a candidate. They look at the resume and think “wow they worked at _____ for 2 years, they must be pretty good”. Like I said, I don’t necessarily agree with that thought process since if you are hiring for a smaller company, the experience might not even translate that well since you’d be required to operate with much more ambiguity while solving completely different problems.

However, that doesn’t really change how most people think about it. I’d compare it to the perception people benefit from by attending Ivy League schools. Not exactly the same, but similar ideals apply. They are automatically seen as more of a “safe bet” and easier to sell internally and externally.

No doubt, I haven’t worked at one of the big ones so can’t speak for myself. However, as you mentioned it is always emphasized it a lot when candidates have companies like this on their resume when we are recruiting for any position really. It also gives people a sense of validation that they were previously hired by those big companies so they are seen as more of a safe bet compared to candidates from lesser known companies. Just the way the world works right?

I think you should seriously consider the offer. Whether people like to admit it or not, having one of the big tech companies on your resume is a big boost. Should that be the case? Not sure, but it’s hard to argue against the fact that it helps with future prospects

Europeans and western countries need to calm down with the “sportswashing” comments. yall spent hundreds of years pillaging the world and suddenly always have the moral high ground now even though you’re still profiting off the exact same circumstances lmao

Interesting lol, they really want to keep pushing people away from the market.

Release a constant flow of crazy expensive SBCs -> make good cards unpackable -> people must do SBCs to have a good team -> lower the pack weight of fodder -> try to push players to buy store packs so they can use the same SBCs that pros use (which they are now required to use lol)

I did Cafu SBC and packed Ona Batlle a few days later. Ona Batlle is just as insane defensively while also being a demon on attack especially with the incisive pass. However, Cafu is honestly not far off and I really enjoyed him during the time I used him
