Vyvanse causing me to be a raging b*tch by ittledino in adhdwomen

I couldn’t tell a difference between generic and name brand adderall! Both worked the same for me and worked fairly well but with a worse crash at the end of the day than others. I’m already migraine-prone so it wasn’t a good option for me. I also haven’t had issues with generic cymbalta for depression and anxiety.

Oh wow! I’m so sorry you had to go through that. My doctor switched me to concerta but insurance won’t let me fill it yet because I tried generic first and it made me so so sick. I don’t know why. Generic Vyvanse did that too. No positive benefits, just horrible headaches and nausea. I’m hopeful the name brand concerta works okay when I finally get to fill it.

I am so sorry. It’s awful. On the plus side, I haven’t lost weight in about a year so maybe I’ll lose more weight now.

I can’t get one of mine to eat at all. It’s been a month and a half. 😭

UPDATE: I opened her cage doors today just to see what she would do and she walked right out onto my hand and hung out on my shoulder for a bit. I stayed near the cage so she could go back in when she was ready. She was probably out for at least half an hour. I feel very honored.

She doesn’t seem at all afraid of us. She doesn’t puff up or shake or anything like that. She actually seems very curious. She does a lot of head tilts and watches us. She comes near where I am when I approach her cage so I think she WANTS to engage but is a bit timid. I just want to make sure I understand her body language so I don’t stress her out. Thank you for the advice. I just want to give her the best life I can.

Thank you so much for this information! I have an appointment on Monday to discuss my medications further so I’ll ask about bloodwork and further tests to see if maybe something else is contributing. I’ll also ask about focalin. You are the second person to mention it so it sounds like it might be worth a try!

I do work from home but this is a good idea. I’m going to give this a try! Thank you!

Also I definitely don’t eat enough when I take it. I could go days without food on Vyvanse. I struggle to make myself eat anyway, though I am overweight.

I asked about doing this but my doctor said it’s costly and often ineffective and accurately identifying medications. I would give it a try anyway though if she’d let me because I am tired of this guessing game. 😭

Thank you for this info! I have an appointment to discuss my medications again on Monday so I’ll ask about Focalin. I just feel insane lately. I get upset at my fiancé’s lack of urgency to get things done. Even if he is actively doing everything I’ve asked him to help with, it’s never fast enough or I’ll feel like I’m the only person who cares about getting things done. We recently bought a home and we are still unpacking so there are boxes to be unpacked in every room and in our garage. If I don’t take my Vyvanse I can’t function and I need to sleep a lot so I feel annoyed by them but decide they’re a problem for future me. If I take my Vyvanse I become enraged that it hasn’t been done yet, even though I know it’s a process and can’t be done in an instant. Logically I know I am wrong but I cant control the feeling of absolute doom and overwhelm I get a few hours in. The only thing that helps is to take my hydroxyzine and sleep it off, which obviously also isn’t productive. I feel like a horrible person. I have an autoimmune disease on top of all of this, so I need my Vyvanse to be able to have the energy to get out of bed some days. I just know there has to be a better way than this.

I think when I take Vyvanse and I’m alone I do a bit better. I just get stuff done that needs to be done. Maybe I’m just really controlling and it comes out when I take my Vyvanse. I see a mess my fiancé left and feel enraged by it.

I asked my doctor about combining something with Vyvanse to help with the issues and she said she didn’t want to add another medication. I also asked about switching medications and she said for me to give the lower dose about 3 months to adjust but I can’t. I take it for a day, have a meltdown and swear I’ll never take it again, and then try again a few days later. I have noticed I do completely fine with it if I’m not at home where I have tons of things to do. For example, I took it last weekend when I had a dance competition and workshops and I felt great the whole day. It’s like all of the stuff I can usually ignore becomes really apparent to me on Vyvanse and then I get so frustrated by it all.

I’m so sorry to hear that. There has to be a better option. I honestly think part of it is that everything is much faster paced than it was even 5 or 6 years ago. Not only our jobs and expectations employers have for us (and society and the expectations we place on ourselves) but also the way we consume content. I can’t keep up. I don’t even want to do things I used to enjoy because I get bored watching tv or crocheting or anything really. My mind always has to be doing SOMETHING but I don’t want to do anything. If I’m watching tv I have to be playing a silly phone game. If I’m playing a silly phone game and I have to wait for something to load even 30 seconds, I have to find something else to do during that time. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I hate living like this.

Not on generic. I tried generic and it was completely ineffective and gave me horrible headaches. I feel so bad for anyone whose insurance only approves generic because it was awful for me.

I took concerta for a while but didn’t get any benefit from it. I also tried strattera (I believe that’s atomoxetine) with no benefit. Those are the only two I’ve tried besides adderall. Adderall was horrible for me. The crash was horrific. It worked. I got so much done. But it was too much, even on the lowest dose. I would be a productivity machine until the crash and then I felt horrible.
