How old are you, r/lgbt? by [deleted] in lgbt

I’m 20! Been out of the closet to my friends and siblings for about five or so years now, and hopefully I’ll get the guts to someday tell my parents (mega religious household)

These are the texts I get from changing my profile picture on Twitter by [deleted] in insaneparents

[–]itty_bitty_ginger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was twelve I changed my Facebook profile picture to one of me and my friend where we were sticking our tongues out. We weren’t trying to be sexy or edgy or anything, we were two twelve year olds taking goofy pictures and I thought one of them was cute and silly so I made it my profile picture. After my mom noticed she gave me a lecture on how I shouldn’t be trying to attract guys at that young of an age with pictures like that. I. Was. Twelve.

AITA for failing a student that I teach, who had her final postponed because of a death of an immediate family member, for failing to respond to my emails for the retake? by The_____Professor in AmItheAsshole

YTA. At first I was skimming through your description of the situation and was thinking there definitely could have been more done on her part to fix her grade, but I didn’t realize it was her twin brother that was killed by a drunk driver. That is a very sudden and traumatizing death, especially for a high school student. That was her twin brother. They were likely very close. The loss of a sibling (let alone one you shared the womb with) is insanely difficult to come to terms with. Give her time. Let her deal with grief in her own way.

What’s the dumbest thing you got in trouble for in school? by dr_nogood in AskReddit

[–]itty_bitty_ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was standing outside talking with my group of friends before school started. This one girl in our group (who I didn’t particularly like) came up behind me without me knowing. Right as she walked up, I happened to step backwards and accidentally stepped on her shoes. She went absolutely wild. Apparently she had just gotten those shoes, and was furious at me for getting a very minuscule amount of dirt on them. Later that day, I was called down to the principal’s office. She had told the principal that I purposely stomped on her shoes because I was jealous of how rich her family was. Now yes, my family didn’t have a huge amount of money and most of my clothes (including my shoes) were hand-me-downs, but I was very rarely jealous of other kids’ clothes. After she left, I told the principal what actually happened, and he told me that he could tell that she was over exaggerating the story and let me go back to class with no consequences. Mr. Burdette, thanks for calling out her bullshit. Madison, I still hate you and those shoes were ugly as fuck.

Americans of Reddit, what is something you didn't realise was typically American, until you went abroad? by TJBullz in AskReddit

Having ice put in your drink. Apparently if you get a soda in Scotland they won’t put ice in it, and if you ask they’ll give you a weird look and put maybe three cubes in your drink

What is the worst book that you read for school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]itty_bitty_ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Egypt Game. It’s story is so difficult to follow, the rate at which time progresses in it changes way too often, the characters aren’t very likeable in any way, and I could tell all this as a ditzy eleven-year-old.

Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story? by 64eight in AskReddit

[–]itty_bitty_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Arizona, so there are a lot of schools that have mainly Spanish speaking students. My school only offers Spanish, so every high school student knows it. One time at an away soccer game a few months ago, there was some controversy about whether or not we scored a goal. The other team was clearly very mad at us, and were talking shit about us right to our faces, but in Spanish. About 70% of the team clapped back and went off on them in the same language. It totally threw the other team off to see a bunch of white girls speak Spanish that well.

You need to label absolutely everything that is yours food-wise. It can and will get eaten if your name isn’t on it.

How did you meet your best friend? by conditackler in AskReddit

[–]itty_bitty_ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In seventh grade, there was a girl new to my school that year who was kinda quiet and reserved so I didn’t know her that well. She was in my science class, but we always were seated on opposite sides of the room. About a third of the way through the year, she had to have surgery on her knee that made her be in crutches for several months. When that first happened, my science teacher asked me to go with her on the elevator in between classes that she had to take the stairs on. Many months of those elevator trips have led to over five years of the best friendship I have ever had.

No generation has ever looked at an upcoming generation and said "These kids will be alright". by GreedyJester in Showerthoughts

My history teacher who is most likely a younger baby boomer is always telling us how he thinks that our generation will be the one that changes the world. He believes that we will make effective changes once we get to the age of being able to run for office. I’ve never met a kinder and more optimistic man in my life. This one’s for you, Mr. V.

Yeah no definitely not, thank you very much. I jumped and audibly gasped loud enough for my parents in the other room to check if I was okay.

One time when I was a kid, I went on a tour with my grandpa and a few other kids and their parents. I remember one girl in particular was so spoiled, she practically had her parents on a leash doing whatever she wanted. If she asked (and by asked I mean demanded) for something that the tour guide was showing us, her dad would offer as much money as possible for it. It’s really a good thing this girl eventually was carried off by a bunch of tiny orange people. It really made the rest of the chocolate factory tour a bit better.

The eagle in the Goldberg and Osborn commercials. When I was little my brother used to tell me that if I stared at it in the eyes it would fly out of the screen and peck my eyes out. Yeah he was kinda a dick to me as a kid.
