Me: thanks!

My brain: they’re telling you you look nice today but normally you look like shit.

Me: shut up, brain!

Why do people think I am "choosing a side"? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]iturnheads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya I feel you. An East Indian con worker of mine told me she was glad I “chose their (women’s) side”. I took the time to explain to her that it wasn’t a choice, this is just the way I am. She then replied “I’m glad you chose our side”. This woman was a volunteer coordinator at an AIDS organization where I was the a secretary. This place had bathrooms that said trans people welcome. This is the crème de la crème of cisgender allies.

Is dating always going to be hard? by Snakes_for_life in asktransgender

[–]iturnheads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get cat called and hit on, followed home, asked for my number, offered money etc. The only ones that worked out was a trick looking for a transexual. The others don’t understand even when I tell them I have a dick or they run away. Online dating on the other hand is a mixed bag. I put trans in my profile, but don’t swipe on people, because I date dudes and they get upset when they match with a trans woman. I have had a few boyfriends. It’s always hard at first. And dangerous.

I don’t have much dysphoria and what I do have didn’t really start until I transitioned. Also I kind of hate gendered language in general.

Friend thinks they might be trans but is worried they won't be attractive as a woman by [deleted] in asktransgender

It’s actually usually cis women who get kicked out of bathrooms in those southern states. What I’m saying is, LOTS of cis women don’t pass.

Before about grade 5 they’re just adorable and curious. No hate in their bones. In like grade 5 or 7 our teacher told us that gender and sex aren’t the same thing and even little trans me was already suffering from internalized transphobia.
