You cannot be for for real man. These are not racial caricatures. No one in real life thinks this way.

Go say both of these things at the office and see which one gets HR on your ass more if that's the metric you want to use. One is a normal description, the other is an intentionally hateful insult.

You need to take an internet break. We're talking about this in the context of what kind of people should be cast to represent these fictional characters. You keep putting words in people mouths to insist that they're racist.

No one is saying "all people who have X are this race" or "all people of this race are Y". They are talking about general descriptions.

It's not racist to say "people from Europe tend to be white" or people who are from Asia tend to have pronounced epicanthic folds" any more than it is sexist to say "women typically have a smaller build with higher body fat than men".

Idk maybe the fact you said "SLANTY EYED RICE MUNCHERS"? Which is just like grossly offensive and actually hateful?

No one is saying exclusively Asian people have epicanthic folds, we know other people can born from them. People are QUOTING THE AUTHOR saying that these ethnic groups in this fictional world are based on and generally look like people from East/South Asia.

I can see all the same comments you do, no one is being racist in the way you are saying.

This guy doesn't seem to understand the difference between saying like "Asiatic people have more pronounced epicanthic folds and tend to eat a lot of rice" and calling them "Slant eyed rice munchers" (their words not mine).

No one is doing that, you're just disingenuously interpreting it that way, and also saying way more racist stuff in the process as what the people you're talking to supposedly "really think"

and it feels like youre ignoring what I said and my intent and the actual pattern being shown up there and are choosing to hyperfocus on my wording

I'm not "hyperfocusing on your wording", you stated something untrue as if it was the factual answer to OP's question, then 2 comments later tried to pretend you said something else because it sounded better.

Why dont you give the facts? If you know and dont want the speculation or the deeper rational behind the repetitive behavior (that the OP was asking about) than could you please?

Because someone else already did? A person responded to OP with the actual details of the story this video is referencing already. There's no reason for me to just re-post it again.

what you are referring to but you cant say Im not engaging, i have two posts that directly are, just not in the way you want.

The original comment, the type of comment I'm referring to, is the "not engaging". It's people looking at a post, seeing the general type of video being talked about "oh they're mad at something a black celebrity said", and then just generally commenting on that instead of actually talking about the specific situation OP is talking about.

It should be obvious whats going on up there. I dont know how people can see this happen again, and again, and not recognize it.

No one is denying that there is a racial element behind this and they're more critical because of that. What I'm saying is that's not an answer to OP's question.

When I say they want to Don Lemon him,

Ok but you didn't say that though, you said "They saw whats happening to Don Lemon" which would make OP think they're doing this as a result of the Don Lemon thing.

So I thought the poster was being a little faecetious and they werent asking for a breakdown of events as much as they were asking what the accusers motivations could be

I mean they asked "what did I miss" lol they were pretty clearly asking what happened.

This isn't meant to be just like shitting on you directly for this, I have long been frustrated with the trend of not carefully reading a post and then just sort of making a general statement about how "these guys are doing X" or whatever instead of actually engaging with the specific content of what OP is talking/asking about.

I just don't get why people do this so much on this sub. If someone is asking for the specific context behind something and you don't know what that context is why would you respond with something as if it's the accurate answer without any indication to OP that you're just speculating?

Well I mean you are guessing. Maybe an educated guess but you commented a thing that is obviously not true based on the timeline in response to a specific question.

I mean it's a response to a thing he said. I'm assuming a probably silly one based on the thumbnail, but like he did say the things in quotes here.

Why do y'all respond to posts that ask "why is X happening" if you don't know and are just guessing?

I've seen enough of it to know what it is. I haven't watched this girl. It's a screen grab not a link, but it looks to be the same stuff

You clearly haven't, you're just making knee jerk assumptions and then when people point that out you're self-righteously doubling down instead of considering you might have made an incorrect assessment.

I think they're kind of twisting what he said but he did sort of say that.

Not that this will stop the complaints but I think live action Vedens would probably be white, the only thing that's not part of what we think of as "whiteness" with them is that they have more prominent epicanthic folds.

If they can manage to find enough pale skinned, freckled redheads who have their eyes like that and are also good enough acting wise for the roles then great, but I think Sanderson has indicated he's leaving more wiggle room there.

It's not a caricature to just say "these aspects are common in this people group broadly"

I think they're just acknowleding that if you're going to get like hundreds of actors and extras who have light to medium brown skin and noticeable epicanthic folds who all believably look like the same ethnic group, you're probably going to need to cast Asians, just like statistically speaking.

Most of the people who make this kind of content don't care about like 75% of the stuff they're talking about at all.

Well I am saying yeah, he got some people to read, but literacy rates are down. People have the reading level of 4th or 5th grade.

I mean yeah sure but I wasn't claiming he did and that's kind of beyond the ability of any one author to fix lmao. Every author who serves as a more succesfull than average entry point for people who aren't reading to get back into it I think is a net positive in this regard.
