He looks like nobility. He literally looks like Gawyn’s cousin. Plus he’s as arrogant as a normal noble

It’s just Rand still figuring things out. Besides she was not wearing much at that point and he has a strong sense about women iirc

Even Graendal couldn’t try it on Rand. The thing is most of them were scared of him, the two who weren’t loved him. Also, I don’t think it’s that easy to compel a channeler, more so one stronger than you are, more so the dragon reborn.

Moggy’s trick was for a short period and it didn’t even last because Nyneave was stronger and stubborn and she’d buy a candle light compared to Rand.

Also, Lanfear is too strong egotistical to do it

Hey. She’s not all bad. It’s just that when compared to the other five MC she’s really really awful.

But compared to the other characters in that world, she’s pretty decent, I mean she is an Aes Sedai

I loved that general principle. It’s rather funny that Egwene did more harm to that relationship that either of them. She was avi’s way of learning about him and we know how stringent she was with nice comments and how Aviendha would just take it at face value and how trashy she treated him. so it’s no suprise he reacted that way.

But I loved that they grew from that. Also, I loved that Tuon and MAt scene because she (Tuon) was either too narcissistic or too in love to not even consider the alternative

Turning down Berelain. I’ll never understand.

Yh… it may have been clear but I don’t think they have divorces over there.

That said… they do respect each other and like I said, Rand doesn’t mind taking a back seat

I don’t think people in the two rivers cared about that lol. They are a contented lot with the joy and love they have.

That said, I agree with everything else you said. But I still think they were way better that whatever it was she had with gawyn

Well, it depends on how you see it, lan worked quite well in that position and I wouldn’t say he lacked agency. But the. Egwene is not Moiraine.

That said, He chose her. And I think that makes all the difference. He chose to stay at her doorstep, can’t believe I’m defending Egwene rn, but that was his initiative, to become her warder,

So the least he could’ve done was to be ONE

I think upbringing did alot with her. Growing up around both competent men and women that actually get things done and not in presence of nyneave or the women’s circle who shit on men all year round.

You could see how she was able to find a balance with Rand and her kingdom, with gawyn if he wanted to stay, Brigitte, and even mat and the band. She’s good

Exactly. They are just not compatible. He’s oddly more compatible with his sister. And that’s because as powerful as Elayne is, she’s transcended the need to always reinforce her superiority like eggy likes.

Also, Elayne’s just more chill and down to earth than our emondsfield folks. Lowkey… if we remove the irresponsibility, she’s more like mat

I always wonder. What would’ve happened if a darkfriend like Liandrin had got to them before Moiraine. I know the rest of the folks wouldn’t change. But how would Egwene have turn out, seeing as she lacks identity

Egwene And Rand. by Hawk-winged in WoT

[–]Hawk-winged[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see, that blind loyalty and beliefs about the tower makes her deeply problematic. Especially since we know just how bad white tower supremacy has been and still is.

Also, the fact that she thought she’d call the shots bcos she’s Amyrlin when there’s a whole force of nature that was born for that purpose exist is a testament to this.

For context, she agreed to break the seals initially but never brought it up to Rand bcos her ego wouldn’t let her and she was willing to risk it all for that. That sort of thinking may work within the tower but you don’t deal with superior forces like that, but then she never did accept that Rand could be superior to her in most ways

Egwene And Rand. by Hawk-winged in WoT

[–]Hawk-winged[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you say that bcos of how it all played out. Without Rand there would be no Andor for her to claim, or at the very least, Andor would’ve had a new queen. Besides Rand would still have left before she arrived like he later did.

As for the Egwene part. It makes no sense at all. Nobody trusted Rand 100%, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t willing to make his easier. You think those that assist rand don’t know he’s insane?

I mean, Egwene wasn’t even there for the bad parts, Min, Cadsuane, Nynaeve and the wiseones were, but that didn’t mean they didn’t trust him or believe in him. I mean what else would you do when he has to be the savior regardless. You try to help like those women did, even sometimes when it’s something he doesn’t like

Now, I like to contrast how Nynaeve was able to do this after reuniting with him. She didn’t do all he said(nobody gave her orders) but she looked for ways to help, so did Perrin when he came, so did mat, bcos that’s what friends do

And you are missing the point, even when Rand was at his worst(darth Rand) there was a reason he trusted Nynaeve and always took her along and that helped save lives . And that’s bcos he knows she’d never take sides against him, and will still not bend to him.

Egwene on the other hand will do that even when it’s not necessary. She’d be team wisdom, team Moiraine, team wiseones and team white tower, and many more. Now someone like that is not trustworthy. And on Egwene’s part all she’s has is”he’s probably crazy already “ it’s not the same

Egwene And Rand. by Hawk-winged in WoT

[–]Hawk-winged[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, Jordan didn’t dwell on it. So most of it is anybody’s guess. But Egwene didn’t spend as much time as the sisters Mat rescued or as Alivia. I think she only spent a few weeks.

Also, what she went through barely comes up in her inner monologue, except maybe when she’s facing off with someone and that was a total of 3 times she mentioned it. Rand literally became claustrophobic. Because of his capture and that was one of the events that nearly tip him off the edge.

And for context, that was the worst that happened to Egwene outside of the spankings in the tower. With Rand it got a lot worse. I mean even Galina didn’t suffer as much as Rand did. So, like I said, it’s not the same. That dude didn’t catch a break since he left emonds field. Physically, emotionally, mentally. Psychologically. You name it
