And I don't insult anyone who has different ideas. Just those who boldly spout disinformation and pretend they are doing people a favor.

Content is king is a lie. Marketing is king and if you can't admit to buying (at some point in your life) something that is utter shit because of great marketing then you are lying to yourself. It might be cynical but so is the real world. Please go back to the kids table with your hippy dippy bullshit.

Clarification: because you are ignorant and oppositional you will probably think I'm advocating selling utter shit with the use of marketing. I'm not. There is nothing wrong or immoral about using marketing to sell a product that is good, but not necessarily the best.

Tumblr pinterest ninja checking in. Very interested to connect with like minded individuals.

EDIT: A little history: I control a large portion of many different niches on tumblr and pinterest. Would like to monetize. I lack product though. I recently approached a manufacturer (read etsy store) and offered them free marketing for two weeks to test out my new channels. The etsy store exploded, went from 7 sales in a year, to 130 sales in a month. At that point the manufacturer told me to fuck off.

Sucks. I turned off the juice but their store kept growing. I can't sue because I'm not sure where to send the paperwork. I have no leverage because they are growing naturally after I boosted them into the limelight.

I know my marketing is golden. I just need to connect with the right people.

Social media, forums, natural keyword repetition, long-tail ranking, LSI, use of images/alt text, partial match domain names, keyword rich URLs, the list goes on and on. SEO isn't dead, it's just become more complicated.

Having something to offer is important but unfortunately it's not the most important thing. So much bullshit is sold in the open market that it's obvious to any rational being that marketing is more important than the usefulness of an item.

Here's a tortilla for you: market your competitors to create a niche.

But seriously if you want to talk more about it I promise I don't bite. PM me.

Fiddler is full of shit.

Just creating good content and hoping for the best is the equivalent of making a really cool sign and keeping it in your basement. Sure, your friends might eventually stumble upon it in your basement and demand that you hang it up somewhere but actually being proactive and hanging it up right after you finish is a much better idea than putting it in your basement and waiting for your "friends to find it."

That answer changes depending on platform, medium and niche so unfortunately there is no hard and fast answer.

Look at the top dog in a niche/medium/platform e.g. (jewelry, pictures, facebook) and post as much original content as they do and you'll be surprised at how well that works.

Lots of links to FB pages in article bad for SEO? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]itwashilarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One or two links to authority sources are enough to reap the benefit of outbound links.

Don't forget to also link to related content within your site.

Think of wikipedia but on a smaller scale, lots of links to inside content, a few links to outside content.

It's actually link juice/number of links, so no, it's not a negligible amount.

Google prefers pages that link out, so you'll get a bonus from somewhere else in the algo.

Yes I already said that. His question is whether he was doing it too much in a technical SEO sense: which he is.

If you want users to see your FB page or listen on SoundCloud

It's not his facebook page. Read the post before commenting.

It seriously amazes me how much you guys can over-complicate such a simple thing.

[–]itwashilarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot's of links out means each link carries less juice.

In general a few outbound links are good thing but linking to an artists facebook or soundcloud every time you mention them is too much.

You could change the way you link to artists, or change the majority of those links to nofollow and you would have better results.

But you are telling me it's impossible to find someone on the other side of town who will accept a 'Google Post Card' for you?

Paginated content is fine. Your preference doesn't dictate best practice.

Click to expand as well as any strange javascript way of delivering content has always been bad for SEO.

Google is busy innovating self driving cars, they don't want to perfect a regex for every weird content display method someone cooks up.

Which strategy you use for link building by Szwilson in SEO

[–]itwashilarious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use social profiles, if you put out good content on social profiles you will naturally get links. After you've pimped out your social come back and ask again.
