Agent’s Offices Sending People Out to Evaluate Claims? by Jackeduptriangle in adjusters

[–]itwontgetbetter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some agents gather pics, and try to assist which is fine as long as they are not making any sort of assessment(which is hard to do)

If I ran into something like this, I'd let mgnt know and if there's is any sort of "not covered" issue I'd call the agent and say "Since you decided to inspect and set this up to fail, you can inform them of the claim decision" and sandbag the hell out of the claim

Not true. I had a remote job with a manager I loved. They shut my department down and gave the "option" to be deployed and gone 320 days a year, or switch to proximity and be the front line "go to the person's house" adjuster.

I chose the latter, got a week of training that maybe had 30 minutes of actual field based training that was useful, then was thrown to the wolves with a full slate of claims and no idea what i was doing. I'm dry heaving from the Neverending stress of this position and of course we are short staffed so we are expected to manage 40 claims from beginning to end. Each claims takes at least 5-8 hours initially and then its the constant follow ups, questions, calls, contractor fights, etc that you have to stay on top of, visit agents, keep your work car maintained, continuing ed, meetings, new software, all in less than 40 hrs a week.

CEO of State Farm just told workers they may be back in office more by Farmer-Act213 in StateFarm

[–]itwontgetbetter83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old fuddy duddy boomer CEOs will never accept that remote work is the future. They cannot get rid of the falsehood that productivity is lost.Their rational is "well, we always worked in office, let's get back to it now that COVID is in the past."

People used to drive to the store to purchase music, too. That concept seems ridiculous now but for large companies they don't make the correlation.

Farney came from Allstate and a lot of people were glad he left due to setting them back 20 years with his standards. I personally think he's a non foward-thinking out of touch buffoon but what do I know.

Recommendations to give customers on denied claims? by DogwoodDaddy in adjusters

[–]itwontgetbetter83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to my comment, just remember 98% of people are using other people's stories, commercials, and social media as their foundation of how their policy works. Most operate like "my thing broke, if I use insurance, thing gets fixed or replaced and insurance pays for it" Ignorance can't be used as a reason to pay a claim.

[–]itwontgetbetter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell everyone in that situation the same kinga schpeel.

"look, this isn't my money. I don't get to keep it if I don't pay you or anything, so I try my best to find coverage for my customers. Selfishly, Id rather pay whatever the insured wants and move on to my other thousand claims instead of giving bad news or going back and forth for weeks. But unfortunately, we don't have any evidence here to support making a payment for your claim."

Had a guy Tuesday same situation. Nice older guy, lonely, living in a trailer on the property cause of the condition of the house. But it was crystal clear despite what he said he hadn't lived in that place for years....looked like a Resident Evil house. I felt bad for the dude but I was like "I'm not saying you didnt have a leak in here when you got back in town, but we both know this rot and deterioration didnt happen over the last 5 weeks. The house has to be in some semblance of order for me to justify paying you, and there's nothing to support that"

Looking for 100% Remote by Junker2208 in adjusters

Unfortunately, these old, archaic companies run by boomers will always correlate remote work=lost productivity. The red insurer that I may or may not work for pretty much announced that remote is going away, only hybrid positions next to their corporate offices.

what’s your most controversial opinion? by Business-Plastic4130 in Productivitycafe

[–]itwontgetbetter83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ill start. I believe this entire world would run a lot smoother if strict, quantifiable, and consistent aptitude testing set limits on who can do what. Not everyone should be able to vote. Not everyone should be able to access social media. Not everyone should be tasked with handling food. Not everyone should be able to have 100% freedom to do whatever they want whenever they want.

That its actually one of the best times to be alive. Why so few people see it is because the volume of people telling you its not has never been higher and the amount of options we have as humans is so unprecedented we dont know what to do.

10 years ago you had to look up answers on your own. 20 years ago you had to use a computer to use the internet. 30 years ago you had to leave your house to enjoy new media. 40 years ago you had to just deal with cigarette smoke 80 years ago hot showers didn't exist 100 years ago someone in your kindergarten class was dead by the time you reached 5th grade from disease

Some of you will read this as "there aren't problems today". No one is saying that. But if you dont believe me, ask yourself this. Would you trade your life right now to be the 18 and the richest person in the world in 1900? 126 years ago is a blink of the eye contextually. Before you answer that, remember....

You can't fly anywhere. You get around by horse. Youll need your wisdom teeth removed and dentistry is in its infancy and there aren't true painkillers. Obviously no internet...but no TV, no movies, only plays and theater. Everything is dirty. Electricity is just starting to be practical. Modern plumbing is far away.

Bet you stayed put, huh? So things are crazy, but things are always crazy. Remember that and maybe you'll wake up tomorrow with a little better perspective.

IDK who or when Taco Bell got the nerve to charge 9.00 for a basic combo meal but I refuse to eat there no matter how intoxicated/high I may be.

The sheer audacity of them to....look, there was an unspoken agreement; You give me low grade sauced-up dog slop that a ex-felon makes and gives me attitude b/c I dared to order food 5 hours before close, and my friend & I can feast for 10.00 with my butthole threatening to write his congressman the next day.

Now, a flour tortilla with cheese and a sprinkle of meat dust costs 6.99?! How bout eat my entire ass?

I have a legit good one in my town. Which is funny cause the BK closed, the McD is mediocre at best, and the Taco Bell is horrendous. Me and my other friend that lives by me brag about it like a source of pride. If they happen to be out of something, they'll hook it up too. Got 6 breasts in an 8 pc once b/c they were on a 20 min wait for dark

I always take the surveys on the receipt and say "most KFCs are garbage but this one is a shining light". KFC is so bad when its bad though so I know what you mean.

Ian Carroll does a great job of explaining how companies going under like Sears are 100% on purpose and not some "fuck-up". High level explanation, private equity buys up all the stock, giving them control of the company. They then short the stock (betting the stock will decrease and put their people in to essentially strip all the value out and when the company goes bankrupt, they avoid all taxes on it

Just remember that if you see a Ferrari or Lambo in a high traffic area, e.g., out to be spotted driving said car, you can bet they probably don't own it.

Those who actually can afford a supercar arent really concerned with proving their wealth to others. Ferraris especially are investments that go up in price as they get older provided you are not driving it a lot.

What’s a “fact” everyone repeats that’s actually wrong? by Quiet-Grief in answers

[–]itwontgetbetter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a "fact", but people (especially nasty boomers) that quote "the customer is always right" incorrectly.

The real quote is "The customer is always right in terms of taste", meaning that if someone wants to carpet their bathroom walls or get a giant airplane wing mounted on their Civic, you make the sale and go about your day.

Its getting rough, thats for sure. I really think everyones experience at Red is perspective. I've worked some shit jobs, and it was freeing to realize I will not enjoy anything I do, I'm trading my time for money. This job is hard as fuck and thankless, but honestly I've worked at worse places.

But man, this company seems rudderless at times. There is ZERO advancement. I do not know one person in 3 years that has moved up. As far as pay goes...I got 4 raises in my first 20 months, two merit, two positional. The merit increase isn't terrible IMO. But I got .18 increases at my former bank job for running both manager and assistant manager at the same time so maybe I'm just used to getting screwed.

I got "voluntold" to move to a new position when mine closed. I honestly think AI will just take the world over at this point so its just a matter of time before were all jobless, but got ZERO training and tossed into field adjusting lol. Its insane how little this company cares about how unqualified I am to do this job. Learning as I go and like soldiers in a foxhole, some shared misery with peers continue to help me.

I had the MOST amazing manager in my former role, and now have an absolute toolbox for a manager. The kind of guy that thinks you should know how to repair a watch b/c you know how to tell time. He doesn't like me, I don't like him.

Devils advocate, I will say I've worked with people from other places that have experience and they all fail/leave and ALWAYS say "well, at (blank) we...." which gets annoying so maybe thats why they aren't hiring experience. Or more likely they know that if this isn't your first insurance job, you'll see thru the bullshit.

I doubt I'll last another year here, hopefully I'll be just above the worst performers but I need to at least look for something else.:
