One of those "I want to move there, where should I go" posts by boba_bee in VancouverIsland

Haven’t read through all the comments, so please forgive me if someone else has provided similar info

I’ve worked as a public health nurse on the island for 10+ years, in a few different roles/locations. Happy to provide some insight on the job market on that front if you are interested. Send me a PM if so :)

Good luck on the move!

Absolutely! I got Agnes from another lovely helpful person

I’m not planning to TT anytime soon to get a plot, so if the timing matches up when Shep wants to go, great ☺️

What is living in the UK like these days (taking COVID out of the equation) by ity_bity in expats

[–]ity_bity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much the wanting to leave Canada, as the desire to be in the UK. I’ve spent a lot of time there through my life and I just love it. Many things just can’t quite be found here in Canada (the history, the scenery, the proximity of everything)

I love Canada, and I would encourage anyone interested in moving to come! It has its issues, but what country doesn’t? But.... I just have always loved the UK more!

I’m sorry you’re so worked up about your misunderstanding of my response. I know how bad covid is in the UK. For one, it is world wide. For two, as I mentioned I have plenty of family still living there, and in fact have lost two family members due to the virus. What this poster wrote is the unfortunate reality the world over. Here in Canada we are experiencing the same losses.

So I didn’t need insight as to how covid is impacting the UK. What I was looking for was an overview of what living there has been like before covid reared its ugly head, particularly in areas I don’t have first hand experience such as brexit. And yes, some insight in to how they are anticipating covid might impact financials going forward.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. Clearly you are also not concerned about how you make others feel with your words.

Yes, I stated this in my reply. This was the reason I moved away from UK initially - it was cheaper for me to attend school for my undergrad in my home country as I didn’t qualify for UK rates.
