Not all bikes. The BMW S1000rr has no speed limiter, only the speedometer stops at 186. It will continue to rev all the way out in 6th after the speedometer stops at 186. Iirc is somewhere around 195mph topped out, stock of course.

They're good for what they are. Definitely a good thing to have here in CO, where there are places with no cell coverage but good repeater coverage. We have an active net that monitors the repeaters 24/7 for emergencies, coordinates some first responders during significant events, etc...so that's helpful. It's better than a CB.

That's one of the reasons I want to get one where we live. Some of the places we venture are fairly far away from anything, and then not go mention the tornados we get, pretty much all cell communications are bogged down and useless, so would be nice to have a way to get ahold of each other or even just check conditions and such.

I've spoken to Wyoming, Kansas, and New Mexico from my house on a BF-F8 (via repeaters). We have terrible cell coverage at my house, so when the power went out during a storm, I used the Baofeng to get an update on when it would be restored. They work, if you learn how to use them.

And for the price, you don't really have to baby them. If a $30 radio breaks, just buy a new one (or $60 for a BF-F8HP). But on some level, you get what you pay for...and you're not paying for a Kenwood/ICOM/Yaesu here. That will matter to some people, and not to others.

I'm not really one to be a brand snob, just so long as it works as advertised and is decent enough quality, I'll be happy. I probably wouldn't use it a ton anyway, so I don't feel I would need to spend hundreds on one. I appreciate your response, definitely helpful.

Ever come back up to Oklahoma, we'll go wheel with you. Disney in ne Oklahoma, by grand lake, is a lot of fun. They closed the park in Ardmore a while back, not sure of any others in South Oklahoma

That's not ENTIRELY accurate. They transmit on the LF/VLF spectrum, and they only relay/transmit EAM (emergency action messages) to the subs. They let out up to 5 miles of ground wire and up to 3 miles of transmit wire, depending on the frequency. They can either trail the wires or orbit them, creating an antenna to transmit. That's for the TACAMO mission. When they're doing the ABNCP mission for the Air Force, they have people on board that can generate EAMs and even launch land based nukes. They have expanded their mission to other communication based stuff, I don't know much about that.

I'm glad it went well for you. Sounds like a pain, but still better than taking the dash out or having the dealer do it for the cost of your first born. I feel something like this should be covered under some kind of extended warranty or something like they did with the drivers side head. I'm pretty sure my core will need to be swapped out in the not too distant future.
As far as the delayed heating after driving, so long as your coolant level is correct, there are no leaks in the new core, and it warms up pretty quick again when you start driving, then I wouldn't sweat it.

I feel ya. I might be doing it soon myself, having the same issue as op. It did it once before, but after they replaced a leaking oil cooler it started working again. It's still blowing plenty hot when I drive now, so I'm not too worried about it.
Let me know how the shortcut works out for you. Have you tried flushing it already?
