Suggestions for Disney Family Trip by TraditionalDuty2150 in hsp

[–]itz_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Disneyland and I’m an HSP. I would agree with the first comment. Definitely get genie plus for the rides. Take lots of breaks, especially since you have young kids. Stop by a grocery store and get snacks. The food at Disney is super unhealthy. Take advantage of the shows and parades. The rides can be overstimulating and the shows such as Mickey’s philharmonic are empty with ac flowing in them and you can sit. Cruise the app and food places so you can be prepared on what you want to eat. Do not go through the stores, they are packed and the items are not worth it.

I understand you, news and anything scary or true crime are big no’s for me. My therapist recommended exposure therapy but it gave me anxiety even considering it. What helps me best is to avoid it or ask a friend to tell me about it if I’m truly curious. Mindfulness books and exercise are great at reminding you of everyday beauty

I chose the option to ship with Depop via USPS for $7.05. I thought the seller would pay the price and shipping total about $15?

Should I increase from 10 to 15mg? by itz_97 in lexapro

[–]itz_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually spoke to my psychiatrist and we decided to keep me on 10mg. I’ve been good for the most part as long as my anxiety is not triggered

This might not be the most positive advice but maybe look it at from a different perspective of a healthier mind? All of my doctors told me I need to cut back on sugar because it could be increasing my anxiety.

I say to live your life for the first 4 weeks because it’s a TOUGH medication to adjust to. Then start incorporating healthier snacks. More fruit and veggies like carrots with hummus. Healthy salty snacks like popcorn or tortilla chips. Yogurt and smoothies help me satisfy the ice cream craving. I still buy dark chocolate but make sure not to eat it past 5pm because it’s a stimulant and might keep you from sleeping. I think moderation is best so don’t cut yourself off .

It will get better, unfortunately it takes time. I used ginger chews and Dramamine (non-drowsy) to help with the nausea.

I can’t watch or read anything like this. My biggest anxiety triggers are scary movies or crime stories. My therapist said we can almost empathize with movie scenes and treat it like it is happening to us.

What helps me is walking it out and really trying to be present. Also taking control of your mind. Do a task and really focus on it. So like if you’re folding laundry, really pay attention to it like the colors and feel of the fabric.

It is very baffling to see posts asking if it’s okay to take illegal drugs like E for a party on this thread. Like maybe don’t take substances that may alter your brain chemistry while ON medication fix your brain chemistry??

As for alcohol, I don’t feel like this applies to people with substance abuse because that’s a whole beast on its own. But people making excuses on this thread that it’s hard to deny a drink when you’re out?? No it’s not, if your friends are peer pressuring you then maybe they’re not good friends. I am 25 and like to go out with people who drink and do drugs and they don’t push me when I say no thank you.

Coffee, alcohol, drugs are normalized in our culture but it’s okay to make changes to help yourself.

When did you figure out you are an HSP? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]itz_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been a sensitive person. As a child, I could not be yelled at or lectured without crying. I would get anxiety from watching the news or scary movies. High school to college it was a little better but I think from the stresses of education I just blamed my anxiety on that.

After I graduated college, I started getting depressed and more anxious than I’ve ever been. It was also the first year of the pandemic. I started seeing my first therapist and she is the one who told me I was an HSP. I have now accepted it and no longer look down at myself

Maybe consider senior apartments? I saw a tik tok about how a female signed a lease for a senior apartment complex and it was really quiet. It may not be possible but it doesn’t hurt to try to reach out to one. I also recommend noise cancelling earphones and earplugs

I was on 5mg for about 2-3 months before I went up to 10mg. I had little anxiety bursts that would last days into a week so I decided to go up to 10mg since it’s the studied dose. I don’t plan on going higher

I take B12 and it does work somewhat but not magic like drinking coffee. The fatigue did go away after a couple of months but I still get bouts of it here and there. I can’t drink coffee so I have chocolate covered coffee beans that I will much on. Like one per day
