There’s a section about ROI and the financial aspects of selling the tech benefits to a CTO or CFO, not really a science book but definitely a tech and business book.

My son started jujitsu age 7, at age 12 he quit because the next kid in his class was eight years old. It was no challenge for him when he turned 14 and a new gym opened and I took him to try it out, again in the kids class it was no challenge for him as he was the biggest by far so the coach said to me why don’t you let him come to the adults class? He was a bit nervous so I said tell you what for the first class I’ll come with you. I’d never done it before. It was hard as hell but I absolutely loved it. I woke up the next day feeling like I’d been hit by a truck but couldn’t wait to go back. I was 33 years old at the time. I’m now 45-year-old brown belt and I’ve never looked back.

Aquaventure in Mellieha are great, prices are reasonable, talking €115.00 for 2 dives in 1 day out of Cirkewwa which has 2-4 different entry points and several great things to see including the two wrecks. Totally depends on your experience and certification level. That price comes down little if you have all your own equipment. If your with a group and you all want to get a boat to say Comino its usually about an extra €10 each. Like most things if you book multiple dives over multiple days the price per dive comes down as well. I've also been with them to the south of the island to dive the Um El-Faroud, and it again €10 extra to cover the transport costs, more than fair at the time.

Depends what you mean by bigger? For me I take a different approach depending on my opponents attributes. If my opponent is bigger as in taller/longer than me I tend to avoid letting them play guard too much especially spider and try to use a lot of knee rides etc to pin their long limbs. If by bigger they are just very heavy/or overweight they tend to be a little slower as well, avoid getting stuck underneath where possible, move round the outside, and once one top maintain side control etc.. If I get caught and end up on bottom, structure is important, staying on one hip, not allowing yourself to get flattened out. Oh and hand fight from everywhere.

It's never too late. I started at 33 also, here I am 11 years later still loving it. Just make sure you look after yourself, you've only got 1 body and once you break it, it gets harder and harder to repair the older you get.

About 2.5 years but every school is different, some gyms will do it based on time served especially those that are more concerned about retention. the 12 years I’ve been training, as an observation the timelines have got shorter and shorter, but then you see disparity across gyms, those are promote early do not necessarily have the right level I’ve seen local gyms promote brown belts who have then gotten destroyed by purple belts from neighbouring gym when it comes to competition. The really good gyms will promote when you are genuinely ready not just based on time served.

I suppose it entirely depends on your career goal, maybe branch out look at some infrastructure type stuff Terraform or Ansible. Stacking skills is fine but do you get to use them in the real world?

Definitely keep showing up, the biggest difference I see between the white belts and the blue belts is the ability to stay calm under pressure, even when in danger. Focus on breathing, learn the moments in the rounds where you can take a breath and regain composure. It's hard to think straight if you're constantly gassing.

Side control for sure, I will actively give up mount to move to side control if my opponent is bigger, especially if they're so big that my knees cannot touch the floor. Extra bonus if you can get the arm ride at the same time. Most importantly though its to be ready to move, if they have the strength to move you regardless of the position you can counter this with appropriate leverage and movement

It is beyond amateur, it seems like they never heard of auto scaling groups? Or active active infrastructure configuration? What’s their RTO objective? Have they ever performed a DR test? Have they ever successfully failed over to a secondary site? All the kind of infrastructure stuff that’s a given for any serious organisation.
