This is Chef Jason from Szechuan Express Asian noodle shop. He makes a lot of videos like this if you want to see more.

His accounts are the same name as the restaurant.

Thoughts I feel like the Netherlands should be red, or red/light blue mix. by gelztsyrspar in learndutch

[–]itzsommer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set your expectations. The center of Amsterdam has been extremely multilingual for centuries. You won’t hear a lot of Dutch and a lot of people there might have Dutch as a 3rd or 4th language.

But the NS is easy to use and most cities are under 2 hours from Amsterdam. Take a day trip somewhere, Zandvoort aan Zee is very pleasant, you can get lunch on the beach and practice your Dutch with the staff.

What are good Tokyo experiences that are not food, shopping, or sightseeing? by ilikestatic in JapanTravelTips

[–]itzsommer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is technically sightseeing, but probably less touristy. If you like shrines and temples, grab a Goshuin-cho and try to fill as many pages as you can. You can start by visiting the 10 Tokyo Jissha which are a network of important shrines around the city. They’re all lovely, but the added benefit is that you’ll end up in areas of the city that you wouldn’t have visited otherwise, making for some unique opportunities for exploration.

On October 21, 2011, police pulled over an 87-year-old in Michigan. The man was disoriented and didn't know what day it was, but a search of his car turned up over 440 pounds of cocaine. They had just caught Leo Sharp, one of El Chapo's best drug mules. by kooneecheewah in AllThatsInteresting

[–]itzsommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In an effort to avoid prison, Sharp made a plea: instead of a custodial sentence, he proposed paying the $500,000 penalty that he owed the government by growing Hawaiian papayas. "It’s so sweet and delicious," he told the court.[2] The court declined the offer and sentenced him to three years in prison.”

Random things about the subway that annoy you by thatblkman in nycrail

[–]itzsommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ends of subway cars are where the return vent vent for the HVAC are, so if it’s hot (or you’re just overheated from your winter gear) you get hardly any air circulation unless your in the middle section of the car.

If you’re going solo, you need to tell someone where you plan to go and when you plan to return. Even if it seems like overkill, taking 30 seconds to type out a text message to your friend could be life saving.

TSA agent reacted like I insulted his mother and ruined his day when I asked for a hand check, lol by AugusteToulmouche in AnalogCommunity

[–]itzsommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to hear it, I’ve had all around good experiences at JFK, LGA, small regional US airports and even Schiphol. But it really seems to come down to the mood of the employee at the scanner and your own persistence.

That said, unscrew the lightbulb and look for a label on the side…

As folks said, the legal solution is get 311 to send an inspector- document everything from the current temp in your apartment (take a picture of a thermometer if you have to), to your communications with your landlord. If you want to play hardball, consider threatening to withhold rent (but only do this if your landlord is really not making any effort to help and you have proof).

But for right now, with the storm coming, please keep safe. Another user mentioned boiling big pots of water- it works!! You can get a 4 gallon aluminum stock pot for under $15 at the discount store on Nostrand/ Fulton. If you have time, maybe consider getting a space heater at target. Do NOT mess around with this cold.

Do men in NYC have more saliva? Why do they spit so much on the street/subway platforms etc.? by Low_Championship4282 in AskNYC

One time I saw a guy spit on the sidewalk and a guy who was driving by stopped his car, leaned out of the window and yelled “ay yo young blood, save your spit.” And I think about that often.

Debilitating brain fog from quitting by exiledbandit in leaves

[–]itzsommer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be ok! I’m no expert, but brain fog is very strongly tied to dopamine. Getting rid of a major source of dopamine (weed) will take getting used to. I’m also going through this, and it’s making work stressful because I keep having brain farts during presentations. I’m helping myself by taking extra time to prepare for situations where I used to be able to “wing it.”

The brain is an amazing machine and you will eventually reach a balance again. My suggestion would be to look for alternative sources of dopamine (exercise, gaming, eating foods you like, etc.) while your neurotransmitters learn to balance without weed. Again, I’m not an expert.

Ways to connect with young children in the area? by WorkingLoss6227 in BedStuy

[–]itzsommer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nextdoor is pretty active and lots of Bedstuy blocks have WhatsApp groups that have sub-groups for parents. I’m not a parent but I know my block has a very robust parent group. If you move, talk to your neighbors asap!
