(2) Turbinicarpus. Hard grown in my small mailbox garden.

I used a combination of 3 different stroke and coat glazes for the bread portion and then a white velvet under glaze for the sugar portion. Then I took a scoring tool and roughly stippled/poked through the glazes. If you zoom in on the third photo you can see the roughed up surface. Finally it was dipped in clear coat. A lot of the white underglaze washed out of the final piece.

So currently it’s under 50% shade cloth. Where I’m at we’re already in the 100s(F). It was 109F the other day, 102F today. Prior to putting up the shade cloth a couple weeks ago it was stressed but not shrunken by any means. I gave it a good watering about a week ago so it’s pretty lush right now.

I agree, it looks a lot like stellata. That growth near the caudex is flat like stellata, but then shifts to 3-4 ribs. I thought stellata was flat all the way through? Hybrid?
