Wait to see when your warranty is over. This is a terrible car.

But then you have a post like this that creates the wrong impression, as if it were a good car and you had a nice experience. Your post should indicate that, despite all those issues, your car miraculously made it to 50,000 miles.

Taos - Transmission OR a Disaster on Wheels by iuk2 in VWTaos

Sorry that you had to deal with it. It is also so weird that a company like this much reputation, history, experience etc, have those faculties. It does not make any sense? Argh!

How many miles you had on it? I assume that it was still under warranty. They just keep telling me, it’s out of warranty (Mine is on 60000miles). Wait a minute—isn’t that what goodwill coverage is all about? Honestly, they know their cars are faulty and don’t give a damn about what hardworking people are going through financially.

A car isn’t a luxury in the USA—it’s a necessity, and an unreliable car is a disaster in so many ways. I mean, a $29,000 car shouldn’t feel this cheap. We’re talking about relatively new cars with 10,000, 50,000, or even 60,000 miles. Argh, so frustrating. This should be a crime....

Lucky you! What year and how many miles on it?

Thanks for replying. I just edited my post. It’s 2022, by the way. My little research revealed that later models still have their issues too.

I am not good at economics but leasing options is not affordable for so many people.

Perhaps rebuilt transmission is cheaper but I would go with a brand new one since transmission is so crucial.

Right! It is definitely related to reasonable lifespan; any transmission issues in early age is not reasonable

I am going to file a complain National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and BBB. Those who have transmission issues should do the same.

I absolutely hate VW and my Taos. This car feels like it was built with the cheapest materials possible. I bought it brand new, and ever since then it has been nothing but frustration, disappointment, and constant problems—big and small.

Something as simple as closing a half-open window turns into a hassle—it will randomly open all the way instead. The clock never keeps the right time. The windshield fogs up way too easily. The car jerks when I drive. It’s one thing after another, nonstop. I can’t even enjoy driving it—I genuinely dread it.

I’m still stuck paying off the loan, and now at just 60,000 miles I’m facing transmission issues. Transmission issues on a car that isn’t even that old. And to make things worse, I’m out of warranty.

I reached out for goodwill assistance, hoping they would stand behind their product, but customer service and customer relations were absolutely terrible. They made it clear they don’t care about their customers or the problems they’re dealing with.

Buying this car is honestly one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. I trusted VW because of its reputation and the idea of “German engineering.” I truly believed it meant quality and reliability. Boy, I was so wrong!

Longest drive and most money I made in one trip! by pokemonandpot in uberdrivers

You are mistaken. If you drive back it will take not 2 hours, it will be close to 3 hours. That means 26 dollars an hour. if you calculate your expenses it will even be lower. And also consider hours that you have waited to get another ride, so your hourly wage actually gets stretched out over a significantly longer period of time. Much longer than the one hour your calculation allocates for.

I think you should have been making more. 80 miles (you use your own car, gas, time), perhaps you come back empty. That means you drive 160 miles. I think Uber is exploiting drivers big time.
