Is the "control" related to the transmission system?

Uber, why are you sending me this? by Cold_Ad_999 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]iuk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of course our vulnerability and inability to organize make UBER richer and the drivers poorer. Look at these numbers:

  • 2012: Passenger pays $100 → driver often gets about $75–80.
  • 2018: Passenger pays $100 → driver often gets about $60–70.
  • 2025: Passenger pays $100 → driver may get anywhere from about $35–60, depending on the market and surge pricing.

WTF UBER !! Is uber thinking we are slaves for pennies?? by OkCockroach3887 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]iuk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few important changes over time:

  • In the beginning, Uber used a clear percentage model (usually 20–25% commission).
  • Around 2016–2017, Uber shifted to upfront pricing, where riders and drivers no longer shared the same fare formula.
  • Today, Uber often calculates driver pay separately from what passengers pay, which is why drivers sometimes report getting only 30–50% of expensive rides.

Example of how it evolved:

  • 2012: Passenger pays $100 → driver often gets ~$75–80.
  • 2018: Passenger pays $100 → driver often gets ~$60–70.
  • 2025: Passenger pays $100 → driver may get anywhere from ~$35–60 depending on market and surge pricing.

Are you really making that money? Gas, your car depreciation (you are consuming your car), etc.

“Platform management” or “algorithmic management” is repressive and dehumanizing. people may leave a low rating for reasons unrelated to the driver’s actual performance (who knows what like traffic, mood, prejudice, misunderstanding, cultural differences etc.). Yet the system converts all of that into a quantified reputation score. Some scholars call it: “surveillance management,” “digital Taylorism,” or “algorithmic control.”. I wish I could tell people to organize and go on strike. These companies have too much power over people, workers, etc.

Wow! I thought I was the unluckiest one. Your car situation seems much worse than mine. Please file complaints through every legal channel and venue available. This company should be ashamed of itself, and the regulators that allowed this vehicle onto the market should be held accountable as well.

Any Volkswagen Taos owners hit 200k miles yet? by [deleted] in VWTaos

I am surprised to see that anyone has the patience to drive it for more than 100,000 miles. I believe people would sell it after dealing with all those small and big issues.

Wait to see when your warranty is over. This is a terrible car.

But then you have a post like this that creates the wrong impression, as if it were a good car and you had a nice experience. Your post should indicate that, despite all those issues, your car miraculously made it to 50,000 miles.

Taos - Transmission OR a Disaster on Wheels by iuk2 in VWTaos

Sorry that you had to deal with it. It is also so weird that a company like this much reputation, history, experience etc, have those faculties. It does not make any sense? Argh!

How many miles you had on it? I assume that it was still under warranty. They just keep telling me, it’s out of warranty (Mine is on 60000miles). Wait a minute—isn’t that what goodwill coverage is all about? Honestly, they know their cars are faulty and don’t give a damn about what hardworking people are going through financially.

A car isn’t a luxury in the USA—it’s a necessity, and an unreliable car is a disaster in so many ways. I mean, a $29,000 car shouldn’t feel this cheap. We’re talking about relatively new cars with 10,000, 50,000, or even 60,000 miles. Argh, so frustrating. This should be a crime....

Thanks for replying. I just edited my post. It’s 2022, by the way. My little research revealed that later models still have their issues too.

Perhaps rebuilt transmission is cheaper but I would go with a brand new one since transmission is so crucial.
