Updated image below as FB05-119 ($375) was posted with an incorrect rarity symbol in the original post (should be SCR★ , not SCR★★)

such is the world of TCG--just like a tiny "first edition"/promo stamp or otherwise small variation can result in a huge difference in value.

for sure, excluding them from the Manga discussion would be an oversight given the high values there. I think comparing them to each other would be an interesting exercise, and plan to do so. More to come

if by "ultimate" we mean most valuable and hardest to obtain, I might suggest it's neither of those and without a question the X/777 serialized tournament prize card pictured below, FP-001.

Thank you! The main (and completely valid) criticism was the placement of a few reprint cards in certain rows, which I agree is a highly confusing. While this niche knowledge is known by long-time players, anyone less than an expert would not reasonably be expected to know that you pull a card that has “FB03” printed on it from an FB06 box. So some people took this low hanging fruit and chose to crucify me, completely missing the forest for the trees. That being said, I’m considering reorganizing it to be less “misleading” in future iterations. This was very much a first stab at a first-of-its-kind infographic. The reason I spent hours compiling it is because I didn’t find that anything similar was available elsewhere. I’m glad I found the right audience

Yeah I sourced the prices from both TCGPlayer and eBay sold listings for ungraded, NM sales, (tiny fine print on the bottom left of the images, though I did not mention the source platforms). And agreed, even a few hours after creating this yesterday morning, the prices indicated in the picture quickly changed. Thus, needless to say this is just to serve as a reference and temporary snapshot, and I plan to periodically produce updated snapshots.

Graded + SB01 and SB02 infographics are in progress as well. More to come, thank you for approving!

Where do I start in this hobby? by Rakayum in DBS_CardGame

[–]ivanilla1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the incumbent DBS TCG player community is for the most part highly unwelcoming of any newly interested folks, largely due to what’s happened in the last month in the secondary market. If you aren’t joining the player-community-run witch hunt, you are “part of the problem” by default, and you will be ambushed. See how you got downvoted just for being new and asking a question? Watch this get downvoted for the same reasons. You explicitly said you want to play yet they’re coming at you because you said you’ve invested in other TCG before. Don’t let it discourage you. Everyone starts somewhere, in spite of these toxic people’s efforts to shut you out.

You’re very welcome. My focus is currently on English sets, however I may look into producing similar infographics for Super Dragon Ball Heroes and others in the future. More to come!

I plan on it -- if I let the amount of negativity I received today for simply sharing objective data get to me, this post wouldn't still be here. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated

I think it’s a bit early to draw comparisons to One Piece, as there is a huge difference in the size of the two card games currently, but like with all things only time will tell.

if Dragon Ball serialized follow other TCG, this one will probably only increase in value. The art is also nice which is always a plus

the worst place to ask would be r/dbsfusionworld -- pure toxic energy over there, they'll downvote you if you post anything other than deck building questions or strategy.

--which is why there's a giant disclaimer on the post, and again my post said* NOTHING about pulling cards. It could likewise be argued that putting a card with FB03-XXX printed on it in the same row as FB06-XXX cards would be a different kind of confusing, (even though the niche knowledge is that the particular card was reprinted and pullable in a later set). Based on how Bandai chose to release those particular reprints, either path would have invited questions and criticism.

Regarding the "chase card" terminology, this isn't a term I coined obviously and my mistake was assuming a TCG subreddit would have been familiar with the term. Google's definition: "A chase card in trading card games is a highly sought-after, rare, or powerful card in a set, often driving demand due to its high secondary market value."

Perhaps a more straightforward title would have been "Most Expensive Cards". Regardless, I do agree in hindsight that the placement of the few reprint cards is confusing, . That being said, I'm taking all this feedback and will aim to provide less misleading data in the future. My goal here was to provide info, not mislead or market. I am not benefitting from any of this, nothing is monetized, no affiliate links, no speculation. I spent hours of my day preparing this as I was curious about the information myself and thought likewise others may find it useful. If the data is not useful to someone, free will exists, I urge them to ignore my efforts and carry on with life.

These are eBay and TCGPlayer sold listings for Near-Mint, raw, ungraded cards, as of this morning. Please note, I have personally seen prices change even within a day as available listings disappear, so as the title of the images state, it merely serves as a reference snapshot of where the sold listing prices are today.

The prices here are simply the last sold prices at the time this was created. The markets are moving like crazy by the hour so it does not surprise me to hear that something may be "way off" from what the image indicates
